Direct descendant of Frank and Nancy Kelly by way of County Mayo and Dublin Ireland, Bronx, New York, settling in Rogers Park Chicago Illinois. Survived by his wife Beth, nee Hurter. Loving father and best buddy to Kevin (Corie) and Erin. Baby brother to Claudia Goodwin, Mark, Dean ret. CFD, Kimball (Mary), Keenan (Sandy) Darren (Deanna), Greg (Jennifer), Nancy and the late Maureen (Pat ret. CFD) Stauffer. Funcle to many nieces and nephews. Lifetime member of the “North Side Irish Crew”, “Legend of Saint Margaret Mary”. Childhood and best friend of many. Mayor of Edgebrook Golf Country Club. Respected longtime Chicago Fire Fighter. In support of David, we teamed up with Glioblastoma Foundation to modify the current standard of care for patients with this cancer. Their mission is to replace radiation and chemotherapy with targeted small molecule therapies that prolong survival and increase quality of life. Their ultimate vision is to transform glioblastoma into a manageable chronic condition. We are excited to share that our efforts over the past year have directly helped fund a new Genomic Testing & Research Laboratory in Durham, North Carolina! The new lab will open on September 3rd, 2024, where David will be permanently remembered and honored for his contributions to help change the story for future patients of glioblastoma. May 25th Saturday, Noon, Chicago Memorial Day Parade, State/Wacker: Please join us to march in Chicago’s annual Memorial Day Parade. It is one of the largest in the country. It’s attended by Veterans’ groups, high school marching bands, ROTC, etc. This parade is a great way to take some time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while also showing some Patriotism and instilling pride in our next generations.

MEETING NOTICE!

All Certified Peer Support Members are welcome to attend a debriefing led by Assistant Director Kathy O’Neill and other clinical staff at the EAP building at 1759 W. Adams St. on TODAY, 17 May 2024 from 1100-1300 hours. A Tableau Dashboard list of Active Peers can be accessed by navigating to the EAP Section of the Wire in the upper left corner, clicking the “Peer Support” tab, then scrolling down to “Peer Support Members”. Department leadership is encouraged to allow Peer Support Members under their command to attend during their tour of duty if manpower and operational needs permit.

SPORTING EVENT!

The Chicago Hounds are hosting a Public Servant Day on 26 May 2024. They are offering free tickets for their match against New Orleans.
