Martin Patrick Lowery (1958-2024), July 19, 2024. Marty was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and trusted friend to many. He was an outdoorsman who loved hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting. Marty was always willing to share his hunting skills with those who were interested. He was especially happy when Sean and many of his nephews joined him at deer camp. True to Lowery tradition, for better or worse, Marty was a lifelong Bears fan. He loved going to games, watching games, talking about games… Every year was going to be “The Year” for the Bears. So go ahead and wear your Bears finest gear. Marty will be in his, or maybe wear his favorite color, camo. He was born in Evanston, Illinois on September 16, 1958, to John J. Lowery Jr and Eileen A. Cassidy Lowery. Marty grew up in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. He attended St. Gregory Grammar School and Gordon Technical High School. Always quick-witted, Marty enjoyed a hearty laugh, liked practical jokes, and will always be remembered for the “Dick Van Dyke Ottoman falls,” he took at the most inopportune times, much to his delight. During his school days, he and the neighborhood guys formed many lifelong friendships. His work life began at Dominick’s food stores. In 2018, he retired as a Cook County Deputy Sheriff after 26 years of dedicated service. In 1991 Marty met the love of his life, Moira (nee Trick), introduced by friends. Together they met each other’s friends and families. And with their favorite sidekicks, Russ, and Ellie, they enjoyed the sights and sounds of Chicago – White Sox games, Bears games, concerts, and the like. Excited to start their new lives tighter, Marty and Moira were married in September 1997. In July of 2000, Marty and Moira welcomed Sean Martin into the world. Sean was the apple of his dad’s eye, and that apple didn’t fall far from the tree. As a family, Marty, Moira, Sean, and his cousin Jon traveled the US, visiting and camping in many National and State Parks. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen A. Lowery, his great niece Kathryn Grace Warzynski, his wife’s parents John and Roseanne Trick, and his brothers- in-laws Dean and Russell Murrell. Marty is survived by his wife Moira and son Sean Martin; his siblings Mary Waryzynski (Jim), John J Lowery III, Eileen M. Lowery (Rich Principali) and Frank J. Lowery (Barbara Wehling); Moira’s siblings Dee Murrell (Dean), John Trick (Eloise) and Ellie Murrell (Russ); his many nieces and nephews, Maureen Jackson (Bill), Charlie, Dan (Katy Mulcrone) and Peter Warzynski; Jay and Jennifer Lowery; Kathleen Principali; Julie Hoben, Colleen, Francis James Jr., and Margaret Lowery; and CJ, Jonathan, Samantha, and William Murrell. Marty loved and was loved by his nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and nephews who will miss their “silly Uncle Martin.” Marty will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held Friday, 3-8 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge. Funeral will be held Saturday at St. Gregory the Great Church in Chicago, lying in state from 10:00am -11:00am, mass at 11:00am. Interment All Saints.
