Retired CPD Alex Horstein's wife, Maureen Horstein, passed away. Visitation will be held on Friday, 16 Aug 2024 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm. Kenneth C. Koeppen, MPFD Ret. 89, passed away August 5, 2024. Ken was born on September 7, 1934. Beloved husband of Jacqueline nee Steil for 67 years. Dear father of Michael (Aileen), Timothy (Lynn), Kenneth J. (Britt), Peter (Holly) Koeppen. Loving father-in-law of Karen (Paul). Cherished grandfather Paul Jr. (Marianne), Suzanne (Alex), Maria (Ben), Charles, Allison, Christopher, Rachel, Cody, Cheyenne, Connor and Brendan. Great Grandfather of Erin, Kyra, Scarlett and Thomas. Fond brother of John Koeppen. He was preceded in death by his sons Paul and Steven. Ken was a longtime resident of Mount Prospect and a 35-year veteran of the Mount Prospect Fire Department. He was one of the first full time firefighters hired by the village in 1963. Ken was one of the first licensed paramedics in the State of Illinois. While with the department he was instrumental in starting both the CPR program and the Fire Cadet program. Ken was known as a legendary firefighter by his colleagues. He retired from the department in 1998 with the rank of Lieutenant. Visitation Sunday 2:00 – 7:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. at Northwest Hwy. Mt. Prospect. Visitation will continue Monday from 10:00 until Service 11:00 AM at St John Lutheran Church, 1100 S. Linneman Rd. Mt. Prospect. Loretta "Lori" Scalise Age 73, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 7th at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Dorothy Scalise. She leaves behind her loving daughter Tiffany (Donald, C.P.D.) and her cherished granddaughter Kaitlyn DeFoe. She was the beloved sister of Thomas Scalise, John Scalise (retired C.P.D), and Carol (the late Sam) Mastre. She was a cherished aunt and godmother to Michalene Mastre, loving aunt to Stacy Scalise, John Jr. (Zena) Scalise, Thomas Scalise Jr., great aunt to Alexis (Brandon) Logan and an adoring great- great aunt to Ivy Grace Logan. Her love of life, huge smile, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Michael Coletta Sons Funeral Home, 544 West 31st Street, Chicago on Saturday, August 10th from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. followed by procession to St. Jerome Church 2823 S. Princeton Ave. for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Private.
