Steven J. Hudgens, 56 years old, of Lisle, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on August 8, 2024. With his strength and the support of his wife and children, Steve defied the odds and battled stage four cancer for over eight years, determined to see his children into early adulthood. Steve was born on June 5, 1968, in Elgin, Illinois to Carolyn Hughey (Bruce) and Richard Hudgens (Nancy). After high school, Steve graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy. He was hired by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and continued his career with the Arlington Heights Police Department. Steve was dedicated to serving his community for over 20 years as a Police Officer, Detective, School Liaison, and retired as a Sergeant in 2021. Steve was an accomplished fisherman and shared his passion of fishing with his family and friends. No matter where, he always found a way to fish, whether it be Lake Newton, Northern Wisconsin, or the pond down the street. Steve was married to Carmie, his devoted wife of 26 years. Together they had two beloved children, Anthony and Amanda. Steve loved being active with his family, and in addition to fishing, passed his enjoyment of tennis and volleyball on to his children. He took great pride in his family and his children’s academic and athletic accomplishments. Steve is survived by his wife, children, parents, step mother, brother, and many nieces and nephews. Steve appreciated all of the love and support he received from his close friends throughout the years, who were like family to him. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home at 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, Illinois from 12 pm to 3 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 3PM. In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations toward the funeral.
