OFFICER WELLNESS!

The Professional Counseling Division/ EAP is proud to announce a new therapy group for officers: Art Therapy for Self-Care Group. This group is facilitated by a professional art therapist and uses creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, sculpting, and other forms of creative expression. Art therapy provides a non-verbal way to communicate and process emotions that may be difficult to express verbally, offering a valuable therapeutic outlet. It encourages self-reflection, reduces stress, and promotes emotional exploration, contributing to improved mental health and overall well-being. The act of creating art can be both soothing and empowering, providing officers with a constructive way to cope with the unique challenges they face. No artistic background is required, and all are welcome, regardless of familiarity with art or creative processes. The Self-Care Art Therapy Group will meet on the first Monday of every month, starting on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 1730 to 1930 hours at the the Northside EAP office, 5440 N. Cumberland, Ste. 250, 2nd Floor. If you are interested in joining the group, please call 312-742-0226 and ask for Jessica Parks or Erika Berg to be screened for participation. Attached to AMC 314051 is a flyer with the group information and an American Art Therapy Association (AATA) handout titled “What is Art Therapy?”
