Michael Joseph Culat, 72 years old of Trevor, WI passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 3, 1952 in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Nancy (nee Hagge) Culat. On October 2, 2004, Mike married Janis Lynn Gipson. Mike started his career with Sears before moving on to law enforcement as a police officer with the City of Zion and later at the Village of Antioch. For the last 30+ years, he worked as a real estate broker in the surrounding area. Mike was also very generous with his time, money, and resources with numerous charities in the community. He was always there to help and donate. Mike is survived by his wife, Janis; his children, Michael Joseph (Angie) Culat Jr. and Kathleen Ann (Timothy) Grasty; his granddaughter, Kelly; his half-brother and half-sister; and many extended family and friends. In addition to his biological father, Joe, Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Nancy Barrows; his brother, Rick Culat. Memorial Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St., Antioch, IL 60002. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Ignatius Episcopal Church, 500 Dept St., Antioch, IL 60002. Interment will be private.
