Steve Decker, 61, active CFD Engineer at Engine Co. 71, suddenly, May 14, 2026.

 

Beloved husband of Colleen nee Carney. Loving father of Matt, Fort Dodge, IA FD (Brittany). Very proud grandfather of Merlin. Loving step-father of Brian (Claudia) Godawa, Sarah Godawa (Ryan Morris) and step-grandfather of Beau and Bella. Dear son of Geraldine and the late Merlin, CFD. Loving brother of Jim (Nancy). Dear uncle of Kristin, Joe (Aly) and great-uncle of Blair. Loving son-in-law of Patricia Carney. Dear friend and neighbor of many.

 

Steve was a well respected and proud firefighter for over 30 years, especially to his beloved crew on 1st shift at Engine Co. 71 in the West Ridge Neighborhood.

Funeral Friday 9:15 a.m. start at the funeral home proceeding to St. Paul Lutheran Church 5650 N. Canfield Chicago. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Cremation private.
