Edmund Joseph Murphy, US Navy Veteran, Age 73, passed away on March 28, 2023. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Harris) Murphy. Loving father of Sean (Kareena) Murphy and Patrick (Michele) Murphy. Dear grandfather "Pepa" of Dylan, Ryan, Makenna and Mason. Cherished son of the late Ruth (nee Field) and the late Joseph Murphy. Fond brother of the late Louis, the late Joseph, the late Ruth, the late Joan and the late Clark. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Edmund was a member of the US Naval Reserves, International Fire Chiefs Association, Illinois Fire Chief Association, Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), Roberts Park Fire Protection District, the Dontays, Justice Chamber of Commerce and Justice 911 Board. He was Proudly distinguished with Firefighter of the Year Award-1986, Sailor of the Quarter Award-Feb.1974, Sailor of the Year Award-March 1974 and Illinois Fire Inspectors Association Achievement Award-2007. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the All Saints Lutheran Church, are much appreciated. Please see link at the bottom of the obituary page under Memorials. Thomas E. Kussmann was born October 27, 1931 in Chicago to Maxwell and Julia (nee Brown) Kussmann. He died March 25, 2023 at his home in Wheeling. Tom was a devoted family man he often spent his weekends visiting relatives. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren on his route, shopping or to McDonalds. Tom was a talented photographer with an adventurous spirit. He loved to travel, especially if he could drive. In retirement, Tom and his wife Shirley spent many winters in Florida and would often stop in different places along the way. He loved to see old war planes and battleships. Tom also enjoyed hunting pheasants at his club, or target and skeet shooting. In later years he enjoyed watching Youtube videos of his favorite musicians and comedians. Tom served in the United States Airforce stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Tom had wanted to be a Police Officer since he was five years old. He lived out his dream as a Chicago Police Officer giving 35 years of dedicated service along with two of his brothers and his son. Thomas is survived by his children Laura (Dave) Vergel and Gary Kussmann; his grandchildren Shannon, Ryan, Julia (Sean Bryant), David J., Katelyn and Kelly (Michael) Gallo. He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann (nee Love) Kussmann; his daughter Jeanie (Linda Stark) Kussmann; his siblings John (late Della) Kussmann ,William (late Charlotte) Kussmann, Irene Kussmann, Marion (late Herbert) Bremerman, Otto Kussmann, Howard Kussmann, Robert (late Geraldine) Kussmann. Visitation Friday March 31, 2023 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM, Saturday April 1, 2023 at St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove for Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private. A reception will be held at the family home following the Mass. Margaret “Peggy” Zanin (Hermle) 72, lifelong Canaryville resident, passed away unexpectedly, March 27, 2023. Beloved wife of 54 years to Martin “Mickey” Zanin (Ret. CFD); loving mother of Michael (Kristi) Zanin, Raymond (Nina) Zanin, Kevin (Anna) Zanin, and Christine Zanin; cherished Mammo of Katie, Michael, Kevin, Rayna, and Matthew Zanin; dearest sister of Diane (Patrick, Ret.CFD) Fitzpatrick and Joseph (Eileen) Hermle; also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Hermle and Mary Harmon (Sheehan), and siblings Ray Hermle and Loretta Arlowe. Peggy loved local trips to the casino and playing bingo with family and friends. She cherished time spent with her family, especially attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace Street, Chicago, IL 60609 on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 3-8 pm. Funeral Saturday, April 1, 2023 with chapel prayers at 8:45am to St. Gabriel Church, 600 W. 45th St., Chicago for a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial.
