Joseph C. Benigno, age 76, at rest on October 31, 2023. Joseph was a Detective with the Chicago Police Dept for 33 years. Beloved husband of Sharon Benigno for 53 years. Loving father of John Benigno (CPD) (Amber Creger) and Matthew (CPD) (Julie) Benigno. Cherished grandfather of Gabriel Benigno and Maximus Benigno. Dear son of the late John and the late Billie (nee Mathis) Benigno. Fond brother of the late John Benigno and the late Jack Benigno. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 5th, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. Funeral Monday, Beginning at the funeral home at 10:00 am and will proceed to St. Francis Borgia Church for 11:00 am Mass. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

Andrew Jackson Brooks, Jr., 87, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on October 29th, 2023. He was born in Danville, Virginia on November 16, 1935 to Andrew Jackson and Susan Pearl (nee Shelton) Brooks. Andrew served his country in the United States Army and also served the public as a member of the Chicago Police Department for 33 years, where he worked Patrol, as an Evidence Technician, in the Crime Lab, then ultimately retiring as Sergeant in April of 1999. He enjoyed his retirement spending time with his puppies, and you could often find him working a crossword puzzle (in PEN!), reading one of his many books, or watching historical documentaries. Andrew is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Maureen (nee Hankins) Brooks, his loving children Jonathan Brooks and Julie (Janet) West, his adoring grandchildren Kirsten Brooks, Katarina (Edward) Granado, Kara Brooks, and his great grandson Cade, and many loving extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Jettie Poteat and Harry Brooks. Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Andrew that will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 from 9:30 AM – 12 PM at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625. A short St. Jude Service will be held at 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at 12pm with a burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, 10343 South Pulaski, Chicago, IL 60655 in loving memory of Andrew. Sgt. Paul D. Mial, age 77 died 25 Oct. Visitation at Leak & Sons Funeral Home, located at 18400 S. Pulaski Rd in Country Club Hills, Il. 60478, 11 Nov 2023. The visitation is from 10 to 11am and the funeral service starts at 11am.

Retired 012th District Police Officer Sonia Worth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 31 October 2023. Sonia was in the first class of female police officers who were assigned to the Patrol Division in 1974. After her retirement from CPD, she worked another 20 years at the Federal Building downtown. All funeral arrangements are currently pending. Please keep Sonia and her family in your prayers.
