Terrence Pierce.jpg
Terry Pierce, age 77, passed away on December 13, 2023, in Chicago. Born on July 5, 1946 to Stanley and Freda Pierce, dedicated his life to serving and protecting his family and others. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the community, as he leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and bravery. Terry served his community and country with honor and distinction, first as a Chicago Police officer and then a member of the United States Army as a military police officer. He bravely fought for freedom and defended the values we hold dear. After his military service, Terry returned to the Chicago Police force. His unwavering commitment to keeping his community safe was evident in every action he took. Throughout his career, he exemplified the qualities of a true hero. He faced adversity with courage, always putting the well-being of others before his own. His dedication to justice and his unwavering moral compass earned his respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors. Off duty, Terry was a devoted family person. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones and created countless memories that will be treasured forever. His kind and loving nature extended beyond his professional life, as he always made time to help friends and neighbors in need. In his retirement, Terry enjoyed pursuing various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for outdoor activities such as golfing, fishing, camping, boating, swimming and scuba diving. Terry was also a major sports fan. His passion for football and other sports started as a kid which extended playing High School, College and semi-pro Football, to coaching many sports for years and enjoying the chance to cheer on his children and grandchildren. Terry met the love of his life, Kathy, in 1967 at a friend’s home on a blind date. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on March 16, 1968, at St. Edwards Church, Chicago. Terry and Kathy couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. They were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Though he loved his friends and hobbies, Terry’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Papa. Terry also had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Terry and his many friends were practically inseparable throughout his life. From silly pranks to lifetime memories, they were together though it all. Terry is survived by his wife Kathleen (Thomas) Pierce, his children; Patricia (Patty) Pierce (partner Kerry Demski), Suzanne Pierce-Coggins (husband John Coggins), and Terrence (TJ) Pierce (wife Jacqueline Pierce) his grandchildren; Kaylyn Pierce-Coggins, Braedyn Pierce-Coggins, Terrence John (TJ) Pierce-Demski, Drake Pierce-Demski, Gwyneth Pierce, Griffin Pierce and Gabriel Pierce, his siblings; John Pierce (wife Vicki) and Maureen Manola (husband Bob), his niece and nephew; Megan Pierce (daughter Melinda), Andrew Pierce (wife Amy, son Jonah), his aunt and uncle; Barbara Cottrell and Jack Wagner, and many other loved ones. Terry's legacy as a dedicated police officer and retired military personnel will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace, knowing he made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
