Rudy “Chacho” Rodriguez, age 91, U.S. Coast Guard veteran, of Chicago, passed away on April 12, 2024. Born April 11, 1933, to the late Felipe and late Hortencia Rodriguez. Beloved husband of the late Basilisa “Betty” Rodriguez for a wonderful 51 years. Loving father of Rudy Rodriguez, the late Randy Rodriguez, and Rachel Rodriguez. Devoted grandfather Rudy Ruben (Gabriella) Rodriguez, Ryan Rey Rodriguez, Lysette Antoinette Luna and Alexander Rudolph Luna. Dear brother of Ronald (Dan) Rodriguez. Fond uncle and friend of many. Rudy proudly served in the National Guard and later the Coast Guard from 1950 – 1953. He was a longtime Chicago Police Officer from 1965 – 1990. Rudy was a black belt in karate and an avid photographer. Visitation 3 to 9pm Wednesday, April 17th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Chapel prayers 9am Thursday, April 18th from the funeral home, processing to 10am Mass at St. Cletus Church, LaGrange. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Evergreen Park. Clifford M. Russell, Sr. C.P.D. Ret., Age 74. Beloved husband of the late Dr. Milicent D. Russell Ph.D., (nee Lavizzo). Loving father of Clifford M. Russell Jr. CPD Ret. (Brittan), Corey R. Russell (Eman), and Kimberly L. Russell. Dear “Papa” of Imani, Jasmine, Nia, Sydney, Tyler, Jocelyn, Jordyn, Madison, Jayden, Justin, and Je T’aime. Loving son of the late Inez and Curley Russell Sr. Fond brother of Curley B. Russell Jr. (Mercedes). Beloved son-in-law of the late Robert and Mildred Lavizzo. Dear brother-in-law of Aurelia Henderson (the late Kenneth) and Dr. Nancy Lavizzo. Cliff was dearly loved and will be missed by his fellow colleagues and friends in the Chicago Police Department, especially Eddie Beale, Ret. CPD and Alvin Rogers Ret, CPD. Proudly served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1969-1975. Proudly served the citizens of Chicago as a Chicago Police Officer for 30 years. He was an avid football fan and loved working on home improvement projects. Above all, Cliff especially loved spending time with his family. Family and friends will meet at Christ the King Church, 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., on Friday, April 19. 2024 for visitation 5:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday, April 20, 2024, 9:00am-10:00am. STREET DEDICATION EVENT!

On TODAY, 13 Apr 2024 at 1200 hours, an Honorary Street Sign will be dedicated to the memory of Police Officer James Svec. The dedication will take place on the corner of 77th Place and Kolmar Ave. Officer Svec was a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department who tragically passed away from complications from COVID-19 on 08 Dec 2021. Spiritual Wellness is a vital part of Officer Wellness. The Chicago Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO) holds its regular monthly meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Chicago Police Academy located at 1300 W. Jackson Blvd. This month’s fellowship will be held TODAY, 13 Apr 2024 from 0800- 1000hrs. All active duty and retired members are welcome to attend. The FCPO is a nationwide ministry to law enforcement officers, by law enforcement officers. Federal, state, and local law enforcement officers both active duty and retired.
