Patrick Kelly.jpg
Patrick Kelly, 67, of Chicago, passed away on June 2 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late LeRoy and Bernadette Kelly. Most beloved husband and best friend of Mary Beth Kelly, nee Hirth. Devoted father of Dawn (Anthony) Plana and Brian (Lily) Kelly. Loving brother of Dennis (Annamarie) Kelly, Kevin (Kathy) Kelly, Regina (Timothy) Szyska, the late Rosemary (Michael) Scianna and Michael (Darlene) Kelly. Admired brother-in-law of Barbara Bednarz, John (Sara) Hirth, Daniel Hirth, William (Karen) Hirth, Sue Chandler, Dennis Hirth and James (Karen) Hirth. Retired Captain of over 30 years with the Chicago Fire Department. Patrick was a fireman’s fireman and was deeply respected for his firefighting knowledge, courage and commanding presence. Patrick loved his wife and children more than life itself. He was an adrenaline seeker who loved anything that went fast. He spent many summers with his son enjoying his prize ’69 Camaro, affectionately known as “Big Blue” at the Union Grove Racetrack. His adventurous side led him to a multitude of snowmobile trips and went anywhere the snow was good. He truly loved going on all day motorcycle rides with his brother, Dennis and swapping classic rock music finds with his brother Kevin. He had a special spot in his heart for his hero, his sister Gina. Once Patrick had “won over” his father-in-law, he remained adored and cherished by him. He loved all his brothers and sisters-in-law but considered Bill and Karen Hirth two of his closest friends. Patrick will be remembered for his integrity, strong opinions and great sense of humor. His love of old shows and the ability to know just the right moment to recite a movie line will never be forgotten. Although his passing will leave a deep void that will never fully be filled, we are grateful to God that he is no longer suffering and that he will once again be reunited with his mom and dad and his treasured sister, Rose, and brother, Michael, until we meet again. Visitation Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S Northwest Hwy, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
