John A. Bosh Jr., 83 of Elgin, died peacefully at home Friday, June 7, 2024. Born July 22, 1940, in Chicago. John was a police officer having spent 25 years at the Glendale Heights Police Department retiring as Deputy Chief and then as Court Security at the Kane County Sheriff’s Department for 11 years before fully retiring. He enjoyed being in his yard and working in his garden. He loved fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He will be missed. Beloved husband of 39 years to Kathy; loving dad of Denise (George) Beggs, John, Roxanne (Todd) Kuhlmann, Dean, Sharon (Ken) Wulffen, Richard (Denise), Ray Garcia, Maria Garcia, Michelle Davies and Rachel (Courtney) Barnes; cherished Grandpa of 21and Papa John to 13 great grandchildren; kind brother of Sandy and uncle to many. He is preceded by grandchildren Beth Davies, Dustin Fico and Coleton Bosh, parents John and Stella and sisters Joan and Charlotte. Memorial visitation Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 2:00 pm until time of memorial service at 3:30 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 95 S. Gilbert Street (at State St), South Elgin. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory. William J. Kopelares "Bill", age 84, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024. William was the beloved husband of Cynthia, nee Stoyias, for 56 years; loving father of Lainie (Tony) Adrian, Joanna (Todd) Reykjalin (CPD), and Leah Solzak; dear son of the late Helen and John Kopelares; cherished papou of Vasilis Adrian, Erik and Mia Reykjalin and Niklas Solzak; dearest brother of Penny (the late Archie) Geavaras and the late Angela Bell. Dear brother-in-law of Dorothy Stoyias, the late Peter Stoyias and Janet (the late George) Lykos. He was a fond uncle, cousin and friend to many. Bill was the owner of The Monterey Restaurant in Chicago for many years. His smile, laughter and love will be remembered by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Special thanks to the staff at Glenview Terrace Nursing Home and Suncrest Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in William’s name would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral Thursday, family and friends will meet at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 2727 W. Winona in Chicago where William will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. Greek Orthodox Service, and the interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove. SPECIAL EVENT!

CPD Fathers’ Day Mass at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park at 1000 hours Sunday, 16 June 2024. All active and retired CPD members, Gold Star Families, Chaplains Ministry supporters, and their families are welcome, as is the public. Mass will be finished by 1030 hours to accommodate on-duty worshipers on their lunch break. While this is a Catholic Mass, ALL are welcome to honor dads, grandfathers, and father figures whose names are permanently inscribed on the walls of the CPD memorial. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and a picnic lunch if you want to stick around. Call Fr. Dan Brandt, CPD Chaplain, in case of inclement weather, at 773-550-2369 for status updates. Ample free parking is available on Museum Campus Drive. Uniformed CPD officers will direct you. The CFD 5-11 canteen will provide water, Gatorade, coffee, and snacks. SPECIAL NOTICE!

Reminder, pursuant to E01-05 “Lactation Accommodations” Department members who are nursing will be provided lactation accommodations including reasonable break times, appropriate location of breaks, and storage of breastmilk. Appropriate location accommodations must be private and shielded from view; not located in a bathroom, shower room, or locker room; free from intrusion by co-workers or the public; sanitary and free from hazardous materials or conditions; equipped with a chair and a flat surface other than the floor on which to place a breast pump; located as close to the Department member’s work area as possible to reduce the amount of time required for the lactation break; outfitted with an electrical outlet; and near access to running water, if possible. Department members are not required to request lactation accommodations prior to a detail, training, or other assignments at an off-site location other than their unit of assignment, and lactation accommodations must be granted upon request. Please see the entire published Employee Resource on the Department Directives System (DDS).
