Mary C. Archambeau (nee Callahan), Age 59, In God’s Care on July 1, 2024. Loving mother of Hannah and Abigail “Abby” Archambeau. Dear sister of Brian (Deb), Kevin, John, and the late Gerald C.P.D. Ret. (Sharon), the late Cynthia “Cindy,” and the late Judith “Jude” (Frank) Carey. Mary was also dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews, the Carey Family, as well as her extended family in the LaSalle-Peru area. Devoted assistant schoolteacher for Chicago Public Schools. Mary was an avid reader and loved her animals. Family and friends will meet at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago, IL 60643 on Monday July 8, 2024, for visitation 9:30am-10:30am. Stephen Paul McKay, 71, of Winthrop Harbor passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at his home. He was born May 30, 1953 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was a long time area resident. Steve served as a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for many years, worked at OMC Johnson Motors and was 1st. Ward Alderman for the city of North Chicago and he was one the first of 14 original members of the Patriots MC, a founding father of the club. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Waukegan Masonic Lodge # 78 and the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667. Steve loved to take care of his family and friends. Going up north to his place in Fremont. He loved his grandchildren dearly and they brought him the most joy, even in his final days. Steve enjoyed a good bloody Mary and cold beer. He survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Roberta (nee Zaker) McKay; his loving children, Kyle (Zarin) McKay, April McKay, Jillian McKay; grandchildren, Bearett McKay, Sariah McKay: granddog, Lucki; brothers, Bill (Debi) McKay, Charlie (Laura) McKay; sisters, Barb (Bill) Martin, Jane (Bob) Cox; sisters-in-law; Loretta Gesky, Bonnie Brogan and numerous other family and friends. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah “Sally” McKay; sister, Allyson McKay; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vince and Loretta Zaker; sister-in-law, Debra Sleddens; brothers-in-law, Chuck Gesky and David Brogan. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 5, 2024 at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, Waukegan. Interment will be private for the family. OFFICER WELLNESS!

Spiritual Wellness is a vital part of Officer Wellness. The Chaplains Unit holds its Fellowship Meetings and the opportunity to share faith every Friday at the Training Academy located at 1300 W. Jackson Blvd. This week’s meeting will be held TODAY, 05 JULY 2024 from 1300 to 1330 hours. All active duty and retired CPD members are welcome to attend.

OFFICER WELLNESS

The Drug and Alcohol Section of the Professional Counseling Division will be hosting a virtual No Cop Outs (NCO) / AA meeting via Zoom on Sunday, 30 Jun 2024 from 1200-1300 hours. No Cop Outs is a meeting place for police officers experiencing difficulties in their lives – or wanting to change their lives because of alcohol and related addictions. Everyone is welcome at No Cop Outs, regardless of rank, gender, race, or religion. Attendance at a No Cop Outs meeting is entirely voluntary and confidential. There are no records of attendance or membership. Members disclose only what they care to tell about themselves. By attending a No Cop Outs meeting, you will be offered friendship and understanding, and support from police officers who have walked the walk. Police officers have had their lives positively turned around by becoming part of No Cop Outs.
