Thomas Christopher Minnick Sr., aged 84, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, in Sister Lakes, Michigan. Born on May 14, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Thomas dedicated his life to serving his community and his country. Following his service in the US Army, Thomas joined the Chicago Police Department in 1962, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 1993. Known for his easygoing and positive demeanor, he was a pillar in the community and a role model to many.

Thomas was a devout member of Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Evergreen Park, IL. His faith was a significant part of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and commitments. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he once held the esteemed position of Grand Knight, reflecting his leadership and dedication to service. A lover of the outdoors, Thomas often spent time at Dewey Lake, where he found peace and solace in nature. His love for the lake was well-known among his family and friends, and it remained one of his favorite places to relax and unwind.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Janet (nee Kent), and their children: Thomas Jr. (Maribeth), Chris (Michelle), and Edward. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas III, Vincent, Valerie, Emily, and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ella, and his sister, Marie (Toppel). A service to celebrate Thomas's life will be held on September 1st at 31838 Huckleberry Lane, Dowagiac, MI 49047, from 1-3 p.m. His legacy of kindness, service, and community commitment will be remembered by all who knew him.
