Richard V. Laufer passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2024, at the age of 80 years. He was survived by his devoted wife, Share Laufer of 55 years. He was in the United States Air Force. Then following he worked as an electrician for the City of Chicago for over 25 years. Lovingly remembered by his four children, Michael Laufer, Jimmy CPD Sergeant (Jessica) Laufer, Jeannie (Scotty) Grant, and Carolyn (Ronnie) Wright. Cherished grandfather to Nicole, Stacey, Michael Jr, Chris, Breanna, Dylan, Alyssa, Gracie, Kai and great-grandfather to Damien, Marley, Rowan and Everett. A visitation for Richard will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. Prayers will occur Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Montclair Lucania Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 900 N Wolf Rd, Northlake, IL 60164.

Thomas M. Newton, age 81, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Tom was born on Tuesday, March 3, 1943, to Thomas J. and Norma (Bucci) Newton. He was a June 1962 graduate of Calvin Park High School, where he excelled in all major sports especially basketball. Tom was drafted into the U.S. Army serving from January 13, 1965, through January 3, 1967, earning the rank of Specialist E-4. On August 24, 1986, he married the love of his life, together they enjoyed the next 38 years as loving partners in life. Tom was a long-time employee of the City of Chicago protecting and serving for 37 years as a police officer and Sergeant, retiring January 15th, 2005. A man of God, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond Illinois. In his free time, Tom enjoyed going golfing, bowling, watching the Cubs game, and spending time with family. He enjoyed traveling, especially to go see family members. Tom was the most loving husband and father; the love he shared with them was unparalleled in any of the times he spent with them. The bond they created will remain in their hearts always. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved spending time with his family. He will be missed beyond measure by all who loved him. Survived by his wife, Julie Anne, children, Jason, Timothy (Catie), Christopher, and Joshua Newton; cousin, Charlie (Carolyn) Kaatz; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Newton; sister, Louise Haase. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home, 8103 Wilmot Road, Spring Grove, IL. A 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10519 N. Main Street, Richmond, IL.
