Jacob S. "Jake" Paskvan. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Barbara E. Paskvan (nee Wielbik) and their two sons, Jacob S. Paskvan III and Michael P. (Arianne) Paskvan. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Bill (Jean) Wielbik and Brian (Lynda) Wielbik, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend Paul Puleo. Along with his beloved dog, Max. Jake was preceded in death by his parents Jacob "Jack" S. Paskvan, Sr. and Bessie Paskvan (nee Cuzella) and by his brother and sister-in-law Richard (Mariann) Paskvan. Born on October 5, 1941, in Chicago, Jake was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School and later graduated from the Joliet Junior College Police Academy. In 1965, Jake joined the Joliet Police Department, where he served with dedication until his retirement in 1992. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served aboard the U.S.S. Bennington, and was a member of the American Legion Post #1080. Jake was also active with the Moran Athletic Club, the Croatian Cultural Club, and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, October 1st at 6: 30 P.M. The family of Officer John Rivera will be present. All are welcome and encouraged to come and show your support. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

Tomorrow, 02 October 2024, from 1100hrs to 1400hrs at the Public Safety Headquarters Building, the Office of Community Policing will be hosting Reiki Wellness sessions on the 1st Floor in the Media room (next to the Multipurpose room). All Department members are invited. Sessions are free and last approximately 10 minutes and are on a first-come first-serve basis. Come take 10 minutes out of your day to de-stress.
