John "Jack" Joyce of Michigan City, passed away peacefully on his 70th birthday, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 20th, 2024. He was the youngest of seven children born to Rita (Lynch) and Daniel O'Connell Joyce who preceded him in death. Prior to relocating to Michigan City, Jack lived and worked in Chicago, having served 19 years working as a dispatcher for the Chicago Fire Department. He also worked as stagehand for WGN TV in Chicago before recently retiring. Jack also worked for the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a member of the Decorators Union and StageHands Union. Jack was also a member of American Legion Post 451 and Post 187. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Joyce and his son Daniel and his granddaughter Dian Nicole Dickelman. He is also survived by brothers Jeremiah (Mary), James (Maureen) and his sister, Robin (Ronald) Wilcynski and many nieces and nephews and legions of friends. He was preceded in death by sisters Patsy Gjeldun, Maureen (Ed) George and his brother, Daniel O. (Patricia) Joyce. Jack was known and recognized for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help those in need, known or unknown. He was a strong advocate for the LaPorte County Humane Society, encouraging pet adoptions as well as their efforts to find homes for pets and reuniting lost animals with their owners. Friends may visit with family and share memories on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana from 4:00 pm until the time of Prayer Services at 6:00 pm with Father Hector Trevino officiating. John Kosiewicz. It is with profound sadness that the family of John J. Kosiewicz Jr. announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother on October 21, 2024 in Homosassa, Florida. John J. Kosiewicz Jr., 77, is survived by his loving wife, Karen of 60 years; his daughter, Pam Kosiewicz Cisko, and son-in-law, Paul (Chip) Cisko Jr; his son, John J. Kosiewicz III and daughter-in-law, Beth; his four grandchildren; Paul Cisko III, Kevin Kosiewicz, Jennifer Kosiewicz, and Matthew Kosiewicz; and his three brothers, David (Penny) Kosiewicz, Stan (Amy) Kosiewicz, and Robert Kosiewicz. John was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie (Blazoncsyz) Kosiewicz and John Kosiewicz Sr. John was a proud Chicago policeman for 31 years before retiring to Homosassa, Florida where he lived for the past 25 years. His hobbies included gardening and growing orchids. But his passion was fishing. He loved this sport, one that he and Karen enjoyed together, not only in the U.S. but also in Canada. After retirement, they loved exploring the waterways in Citrus County. Often, John enjoyed the solitude of fishing by himself, leaving before dawn, to catch and release "The Big One". Bernard A. O’Donnell, Ret. Captain CFD, 82, of Palos Heights, died peacefully October 27th with family members by his side. Bernard was born October 23, 1942 in Chicago to the late Bernard M. and Mable (nee Hendrickson) O’Donnell. He was a graduate of Leo High School, Class of 1960. He was a Chicago Firefighter from 1966 to 2005. Beloved husband of Alice S. (nee Ahlgrim) O’Donnell; Devoted father of Kathleen Kurtzweil, and Bernard W. (Beth) O’Donnell; Cherished grandfather of Kristin (Dave) Diesness, Brandon (Emily) Kurtzweil, Kimberly Kurtzweil, Erin (Patrick) Mahoney, Clare O’Donnell and Bernard T. James Allen Reynolds passed away on August 23rd, 2024 at 86 years old, surrounded by his family. Jim was born to the late William and Stella Reynolds (nee Powers) in Chicago, IL, where he lived all his life (with a few memorable teenage years near Bovey, MN). He loved God and his family with all his heart and is deeply missed. Jim served many years as a dedicated police officer in the Chicago Police Department, which gave him great purpose and many stories to tell. He loved to entertain people with jokes, especially dad jokes, and his contagious laughter could fill a room. As an avid fisherman, he could often be found near a dock, on a boat, or in a pool. He was also a big animal lover, having pets throughout his life. In his last years, much of his time was spent doting on his dogs, Luke and Rosie. He lived most of all for his family, who he held in his heart no matter the distance or time apart. Jim is survived by his loving wife Louise Smith-Reynolds and their children Jaimene (Leonard) Gore and Taylor Reynolds; his other cherished children Sandy Reynolds Moore, Susan (Mike) Denison, and Tim Reynolds; and many grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Richard (Judy) Reynolds and sister Doris (William) Prosser. His family will hold a Memorial Service to celebrate Jim's life at 11:00 am on November 2nd, 2024 at Morgan Park Presbyterian Church, 2017 W. 110th Pl, Chicago, IL 60643.
