William A. "Bill" Barnes, age 93, U.S. Army veteran and 60 year member of the Plainfield Fire Department, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 8, 1931 in Joliet, IL. A complete obituary is pending. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield, IL 60544. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Future Inurnment: Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield. Peter J. DeFrancisco, 82, at rest March 16, 2025. Retired Lieutenant with the Chicago Police Department. Devoted husband of Anna for over 62 loving years. Loving father of Denise McCarthy and Gina (Vince) Maestranzi. Beloved grandfather of Sean, Ryan (Tara), and Michael McCarthy, and Angelina and Peter Maestranzi. Dear brother of Jim (Gary) DeFrancisco, the late Joseph (Diane) DeFrancisco, and the late Joan (the late Bob) Buckingham. Fond uncle, great uncle, and great-great uncle of many. Peter was a man of his word who was sought out for his skills in all types of trades. He was a proud police officer and was the epitome of ‘To Serve and Protect.’ He will be missed by many. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 19th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W Lawrence, Norridge. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Eugene Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Cathy L. Jarmusz (nee Melcic), age 71. Late of the East Side neighborhood in Chicago, IL. Passed away on March 16, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of David Jarmusz (Ret. CPD) for 51 years. Loving mother of Timothy (Caroline) Jarmusz, and Nicholas (Carrie) Jarmusz. Cherished grandma of Vincent, Christopher, Peter, Ruth, and Gabriel. Dearest sister of Lorraine (late Robert) Sirbek. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents James and Ethel Melcic. Cathy was a graduate of South Chicago Community Hospital School of Nursing. She was a licensed nurse in both Illinois and Indiana. Cathy was a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, volunteer with Annunciata Home and School Association, and longtime parishioner of Annunciata Church. She was an avid reader, music and nature lover who enjoyed traveling, visiting antique stores, crocheting and sewing.
