Charles Robert "Chuck" Montgomery, age 77, US Air Force Vietnam Veteran and retired Tinley Park Police Commander, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2025. Beloved husband for 55 years to Donna, nee Biesboer. Loving father of Jean (Bill) Murray and Brian (Sharon) Montgomery. Cherished grandfather of Amber (Jarod) Lindberg, Brooke, Aeryn and Giada Vaccarello, and Robert Montgomery Murray. Dearest great-grandfather of Jason Charles Lindberg. Preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Flannery and Peggy (Mike) Sinks. Dear uncle of Janet (Tom) DePalma. Dearest son-in-law of Betty Biesboer. Fond brother-in-law of Duane (Barbara) Biesboer and the late Denise Biesboer. In addition to his service as a dedicated Tinley Park Police Officer and Commander, Chuck shared his knowledge and passion as a part-time instructor at Moraine Valley College. After retiring from the Tinley Park Police Department, he continued his commitment to law enforcement by serving as Deputy Director of NEMERT, overseeing in-house police training. A proud graduate of the FBI National Academy, Chuck also had the honor of serving as President of the Illinois Chapter, exemplifying his leadership and dedication to the profession. Visitation Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 3-8PM at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Visitation continues at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church, 7500 Sycamore Dr., Orland Park, IL on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 9:30AM until time of Funeral Service 10:30AM. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Parkinson's Foundation 1359 Broadway, Suite. 1509, New York, NY 10018.

Edward. Joseph Szewczyk, age 67, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Beloved son of the late Joseph and Serafina Szewczyk. Loving brother of Henry (Mary Ann) Szewczyk. A devoted caretaker to Walter, Ashley, and Kibbles, Edward had a special bond with animals and was devoted caretaker to his beloved pets. Edward earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Northeastern Illinois University in 1983. He dedicated 15 years of his life as a paramedic for a private firm before continuing his service as a dispatcher city of Chicago at O'Hare International Airport, where he worked faithfully for 25 years until his retirement. In his free time, Edward found peace in nature and often visited Crivitz, Wisconsin, where he enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds. Even the hummingbirds will miss his gentle presence. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the nurses and physicians of the Palliative Care Unit at Illinois Masonic Hospital. Your compassion, dedication, and gentle care. Edward was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646, on Tuesday, May 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Chapel Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL. May is here and seems to be full of April's showers. This Tuesday the 6th of May is the Northside Retiree Breakfast. Held at D'Agostino's 7530 W Oakton in Niles. The doors open around 0830 and breakfast 0900. With a cost of $15/person which includes tax and tip. Tip more if you wish and there is a 3% upcharge for credit cards. Come early, stay late, meet up with friends old and new. Hope to see you! Door prizes and split the pot. Bank the Blue will do a fund-raising raffle for great prizes at six tickets for $5.

SPECIAL NOTICE!

The Sig Sauer P320 is being phased out and will no longer be an approved firearm. All members who have the Sig Sauer P320 as their prescribed duty weapon must transition to a new approved firearm. Members who have a department approved Alternate Prescribed firearm other than a Sig Sauer P320, may opt to reclassify that firearm as their Prescribed duty weapon, consistent with U04-02-01 “Department Approved Handguns and Ammunition,” in lieu of purchasing a new firearm. The Training & Support Group, Firearms Training Section will be hosting “Gun Days” on the following dates: Monday, 05 May 2025 0600 1200 (Training Academy 1300 W. Jackson Blvd. Tuesday, 06 May 2025 0700-1300 PSTC (701 N. Kilbourn) Wednesday, 07 May 2025 0700-1300 PSTC (701 N. Kilbourn) Vendors will be displaying and accepting orders for Department approved weapons and ancillary equipment, including optics, lights, holsters, belts, etc. All Department members are welcome to visit and place orders.
