William F. (Bill) McFarland, age 88 of Tinley Park, IL peacefully passed away in his home on May 12, 2025. Bill was born on November 18, 1936, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, IL to Terrence and Pauline McFarland. Bill served his country as a United States Marine. He had a long career as an Illinois State Trooper initially with the Canine Unit and later provided executive security to two Illinois Governors and a Secretary of State. Bill was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and a dedicated Chicago Bears fan and season ticket holder since 1965. He loved to cook and always shared his famous barbeque sauce, smoked salmon, homemade pickles or salsa at every gathering. He was generous and never came anywhere empty-handed. He liked spoiling his loved ones with Christmas gifts, homemade cakes, fresh vegetables from his garden and cards written in his own hand-lettered calligraphy. He was also quick to offer help with a home repair project. He loved all kinds of music from Ray Conniff to the Bee Gees. Maybe that’s why he was such a great dancer. We will remember him for his generous spirit, hard work, and sense of humor. Bill is survived by his children: Jim (Triena) McFarland, Christopher McFarland, Mary Beth (Bob) Hogan and grandfather to Walter, Cecilia and Henry Hogan and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister June Blankemeier Scottsdale, AZ Please join us in celebrating his life on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a 4pm Memorial Service at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy. Homewood, IL For additional information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Magallanez, a cherished father, devoted son, loyal brother, and true friend to many. He departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the proud father of Catherine, Alexander, and Michael Magallanez Jr.; the loving son of Rose Marie Forst and Alberto (Christina) Magallanez Jr.; and the dear brother of Alberto Magallanez III. He was also a fond nephew, cousin, and a loyal friend to countless others. A true renaissance man, Michael lived a life full of purpose and passion. He served his community with honor as a Chicago firefighter, displayed incredible skill and dedication as a mechanic, and later ran Yellow Cab in Chicago. He was a proud and lifelong fan of Chicago sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. Known for his big heart and even bigger personality, he was always the first to lend a helping hand and the last to leave a gathering—often the one making everyone laugh. He deeply valued family, maintaining close ties with both immediate and extended relatives throughout his life. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us for a Celebration of Life, where we will gather to remember the joy he brought into our lives and share the lasting impact he made on us all. Services will be held on May 31st, 2025 at Andrew J. McGann and Son Funeral Home 10727 S. Pulaski Rd. Chicago, IL 60655 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will be forever missed and always remembered.
