Lee W. Barnes, age 82, formerly of Palos Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Lee was the devoted father of Lee (Michaeline), Jeffrey (Michelle), Deborah Hoster (Edward), and Laura Andersen (Jeff). He was the cherished grandfather of 15 and the beloved great-grandfather of 5. Lee was also the dear brother of Paul Barnes and leaves behind many loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Born on August 24, 1943, in Harvey, Illinois, Lee was the son of the late Harold and the late Ethel Barnes. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1963 to 1969. Lee began his professional life as a Blue Island police officer and later served as Chief of Security at Eisenhower High School. He went on to build a long and successful career with Frontier Coach and RichLee Vans before retiring in 1999. Lee was preceded in death by his former wife, Saragene. He is survived by his former wife and lifelong partner, Barbara Van Huis. After his retirement, Lee moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he spent over 25 years enjoying the sunshine, warmth, and the companionship of friends in the community he came to love. Visitation for Lee will be Sunday, November 9th, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Visitation will continue Monday, November 10th, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Beverly Cemetery, Blue Island.

Thomas Joseph Callaghan Age 79, died peacefully at home on October 28, 2025. His beloved wife, Shilan Aghdam, preceded him in death 5 years earlier. He is survived by his loving daughter Maeve Musgrave Callaghan and her husband Dave Musgrave. Tom was born March 10th, 1946 in Belfast, N. Ireland to Betty (McCormick) and Gerry Callaghan, and the family came to Chicago in 1962. He is one of ten children: Gerard (Mary), Mary Ann, Liz Morgan, Eileen (Ed) Rascon, Pat (Vince) Lukasik, Tony (Cindy), Sean, the late Deirdre (Todd) Milos, and Brian (Anne) and has many nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. Tom loved travel and adventure. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, including time in Vietnam, and twice with the Peace Corps in Africa – first in Guinea and then Gabon. He was a teacher of English as a second language, and worked in many countries including the Philippines, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. When he and Shilan married they settled in Chicago and he joined the Chicago Police Force. In retirement, he provided security at Bank of India. He was an avid reader with a love of history and deep understanding of politics. He practiced martial arts and loved poetry and music. He loved his wife and daughter as well as the extended family and treasured his friends. A doting husband and father, a diligent brother, and a devoted friend. May he rest in peace.

Daniel F. Dominiak, age 75, beloved husband of Mary L. (nee Valentine); loving father of Matthew (Maritza) ; dearest grandfather of Jonathan and Aiden; Dear brother of the late Geraldine (Robert) Krystoszek; dear brother-in-law of Carol (Steven) Angiollo and Mark (Maggie) Valentine; fond uncle and cousin to many. Dan was a retired Police Officer. Visitation Monday 3-8 P.M. at Lawn Funeral Home 7909 State Rd. (5500W) Burbank. Interment Private.

Joan Groff, age 92, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Joan was a devoted mother to Larry CPD (Dorothy) and Lauren Rhein, a proud and loving grandmother to four, and a doting great-grandmother to five. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Joan now rejoins her beloved family members—her parents, Bondell Freeman and Millie Reckow, her husband Joseph Groff Jr., and her brother Charles Freeman—who welcome her home. Interment: Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave., Stickney, IL.

Retired Detective Mike Miller from Area Four passed away on November 6th. A celebration of life will be held in the future.
