John Dineen



John Dineen, Ret CPD, born on July 4, 1936, on the West Side of Chicago to the late Tom and Dorothy Dineen, passed away on March 25, 2026.

Beloved husband of Marilyn Dineen, nee Callahan, for 68 years. Loving father to Karen (John) Kissane, Susan Dineen, Cindy (Norb) Sliwa, John Michael Dineen, and Timothy (Ret CPD) (Sue) Dineen. Adored and devoted grandfather to AJ (CPD), Jonathan, Beth, Dave, Kyle, Kevin, Megan, Rose, Maggie, and Maddie. He was a great-grandfather to 11. Fond brother of Tom (the late Jean) and Patricia Hennessy, and revered uncle to many nieces and nephews.

John was a proud St. Mel’s alum, Army veteran, and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of the CPD and the dedicated President of the Fraternal Order of Police for over twenty years, which also included a two-year term as the national FOP president. He was a champion for labor rights and officer benefits whose decades of service and visionary leadership left a lasting impact on the department and all those he represented.




Above all else, John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his caretakers, Kathy, Lynn, Maria, Alice, and nurse Margaret, for their kind and gentle service in the final chapter of his life. In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider supporting the 100 Club of Illinois or Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

Thomas “Sonny” James Jones III Obituary

Thomas "Sonny" James Jones III, 84, lifelong born and raised Canaryville resident, passed away March 25, 2026. Devoted husband of Judie A. Green; beloved father of Thomas IV (Christine) Jones, Kathleen (Matthew) Summerlin, and the late Scott Jones; dearest brother of Elmer "Skip" (Carol) Jones, the late William (the late Lynn) Jones, and the late William "Buddy" Doolan; caring brother-in-law of Michael (Carol) Green; cherished grandfather of Ryan (Kenneth) Spain, Catherine (John) Gorman, Timothy (Isabel) Houghton, Thomas Jones V, Margaret Pearl Jones, Erin McCarthy, Jace Dvorak, Alex Dvorak, Charlie Dvorak, and Cody Boll. Adored great-grandfather of ten loving great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Jr and Pear Jones. Tom was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and extended family.

 A born and raised southside Canaryille resident, Tom was better known to many as

"Sonny" or "Rabbit" He was an extremely proud army veteran and retired CPD officer.

Tom was also a marine boat captain and loved boating, regardless if it was a work setting or not.

 He was a loving husband to his wife Judie for over 59 years and he absolutely adored her. A family man, Tom was a proud grandfather and uncle to many. He would always be the first to offer a helping hand or his shirt off his back for anyone who needed it.

 In his free time, he loved spending time on his boat and trailer. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Tom will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him but never forgotten.

 Visitation on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Mclnerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace St., Chicago, IL 60609. Funeral Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Willow Springs.

Anthony Patrick Richards Obituary

Anthony Patrick Richards, CPD, age 43, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 with his family by his side.

Cherished son of Audrey Richards (nee Jarvis) and the late Anthony J. Richards. Loving brother to Brian, (Suzanne) Richards, CFD lieutenant. Devoted partner of Pelin Senol. Fond uncle of Sean, Emma and Gavin Richards. Cousin and great friend to many.

 Anthony was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. He enjoyed watching movies, planning family trips, and putting together photo albums that beautifully captured life’s most precious moments. He especially cherished the time he spent with his niece and nephews, creating lasting memories and sharing simple joys like playing mini golf or watching a ballgame at Wrigley Field.

 In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball and flag football. Anthony loved to travel and embraced every opportunity to explore new places, especially new restaurants with Pelin. He eagerly anticipated the family’s annual trips to the Wisconsin Dells and their camping adventures. He also found great happiness in spending time in Lake Geneva.

 Anthony spent 20 years on the Chicago Police Department and was the recipient of many awards. He lived a life of service and was always willing to help those in need.

 Above all, he was a devoted family man who treasured time with those he loved.

 Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29th, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral & Cremation Center, 6467 N. Northwest Hwy, Chicago IL 60631. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church for the Funeral Mass on Monday, March 30th, at 10:30 am at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 7201 N. Oketo Ave, Chicago IL. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Chicago Bears or Cubs attire for Monday’s services.

 In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
