Kevin Doyle of Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully on May 9th 2026 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kevin was born in Chicago to William F. Doyle Sr. and Rosemary L. Doyle (nee Walsh). Kevin graduated from St. Bede the Venerable Grammar School, and attended both St. Rita and Carl Sandburg High School. In high school he discovered his love for running and theatre. He ran varsity track and performed in numerous productions.
While attending Northern Illinois University where he received his bachelors in Political Science, Kevin worked as a Local 597 pipefitter in the summers to pay for school. His love of running and theatre followed him to Northern Illinois University, where he ran for 4 years and performed in numerous plays. During his senior year of college, Kevin was invited to perform with the the New Globe in New York with starting his illustrious stage and film career.
After the New Globe, Kevin went on to become a proud member of The Second City Touring Company and became a cast member of Second City e.t.c. He also starred in numerous films and television shows, including The Untouchables, My Best Friend’s Wedding and Chicago PD.
During his time as an actor he played so many police officers, Kevin decided to become one in real life! He served as a Chicago Police Officer in the 18th District for 22 years. As a CPD officer, Kevin protected the city with tenacity, spirit and humor to make the world a better place.
Kevin was a beloved husband, father, neighbor and friend to all that met him. He was deeply committed to the 12 step program and always looked at life One Day At A Time. He was a proud south side Chicagoan and loved sports, especially the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks. He was even known to watch a Cubs game or two. He loved movies, music and guitars. Some of his favorite bands were Warren Zevon, The Allman Brothers Band, Gram Parsons, and Bob Dylan to name a few. He was deeply committed to his family and would do anything to help someone in need.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister (Lenore Doyle), brother (Bill Doyle), and nephew (Colin Gantz). He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his daughters Claire ( Nicholas) and Eve, his grandson Connor, his kitties Duane and Greg, his brother Jimmy ( Stephen), sister Rosie (husband Bill, daughter Meghan, and grandniece Layla); brother-in-law Michael (sons Kevin (wife Stacey) and Michael (Maggie); and grandnephews and grandniece (Nathan, Riley, and Jack).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont Street (One block north of Washington St. & Main St.) Prayers will begin at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, May 14, 2026, then proceeding to Resurrection Catholic Church, 30W350 Army Trail Rd., Wayne, IL 60184 for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Private

Bernard Tobin Hensgen, who dedicated his life to service and family, passed away on May 7, 2026. Born on November 24, 1945, Bernard led a life marked by achievement, commitment, and love.
Bernard served for 25 years as a Chicago Police Officer. He also contributed his dedication as the Assistant Chief of Police in New Haven, Connecticut, for two years. After his time in law enforcement, he spent five years working as an analyst for the Chicago Gaming Commission. His career was built on a foundation of education and hard work. Bernard was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and completed both an MBA and an MPA from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He earned a PhD from Loyola University and was a longtime member of MENSA.
Aside from his professional life, Bernard was a former college football player and remained a lifelong fan of the game. He enjoyed spending time playing chess with friends and family.
Bernard is survived by his loving spouse, Celeste J. Hensgen, whom he had been married to for 55 years. He is also survived by his children Marke Jurek, Celeste Ozburn (and her spouse Chris), and Maxwell Hensgen. Bernard’s grandchildren – Jeremy Cotton, Adrienne Hensgen, Jewel Cotton, Noah Ozburn, and ZuZu Ozburn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Hensgen. Bernard leaves behind his siblings James (and Debbie) Hensgen, Bud (and Helen) Hensgen, Ann (and Jack) Walsh, and Maureen (and Rich) Tuttle. He was preceded by his twin brother Michael Hensgen and his parents, Bernard and Grace Hensgen (Moss).
Bernard Tobin Hensgen will be remembered for his service, intelligence, and the love he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
