William J. “Billy” Donovan, CPD, 52, suddenly; cherished son of Nancy Donovan (Larry Klug) and the late Timothy J. Donovan, Ret. CFD; loving father of Ella Donovan; dearest brother of Mary Pat McGeehan, Timothy Donovan, Maureen (Kenneth) Kovac and the late Meg Moonan; fond brother-in-law of Ken (Dawn) Moonan; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends. Billy was also a grateful friend of Bill W. Visitation Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a private Funeral Service at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415. Obituary for William "Bill" Riemer
William “Bill” Riemer, 98, passed away peacefully at his home in Libertyville, Illinois, on Saturday, June 20, 2026 and into the arms of Jesus Christ.

Born on November 12, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, Bill had been a resident of Libertyville for the past 31 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee stationed in Guam following World War II. After his military service, Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator and later dedicated 27 years of service to the Chicago Fire Department as an Engineer on Engine Companies 43 and 76 before retiring.

Bill was a devoted member of Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Grayslake, where he faithfully served as an elder, sexton and deacon. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was deeply committed to serving his church community and anyone who needed help. Bill also enjoyed gardening, participating in sports during his younger years, and remained an enthusiastic sports fan throughout his life. He loved golf, the Cubs, the Bears and the Blackhawks, especially if they were on a winning streak.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Riemer; his daughter, Sandra (Mel) Smith; his daughter-in-law, Donna Riemer; four grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Smith, Benjamin (Heather) Smith, Faith (Brett) Silton, and Bill (Megan) Riemer; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ruth Schuka, Fred Riemer and Erna Baker.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Kerry Riemer and Ronald Riemer; and by his siblings, Johannes, Gottlieb, David, Alex, Donald, Marie and Rose.

A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 32475 N. Alleghany Road, Grayslake. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Libertyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s memory would be appreciated to Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church or Feed My Starving Children, www.fmsc.org.

Cherished grandfather of Mila and Ethan and step-grandfather to Isabella and Noemi. Devoted son of late Ralph and the late Mary (nee Gonzalez) Vega. Dearest brother of Margaret (Ken Pelk) Lopez, George (late Rose) Orona, Delphine Orona, Ralph (Patty) Vega, Mary (Gabe) Herrera, late Robert Orona and late Frances E. Orona.
