John S. Campise, born on December 28, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on July 12, 2026, in Joliet, Illinois, leaving behind a life marked by devotion, service, and love.



He was the beloved husband of Genevieve, the love of his life and his wife of 70 years. Their marriage was a lasting example of loyalty, companionship, and shared purpose, and together they built a family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his children, Michael (Cindy), John, and Kathleen (Roy Klotzbuecher). He was a proud grandfather to Matthew (Natalie), Michael, Sarah, Misty (Steve), the late Chad, and Devin. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Madison, Kyle, Hadden and Aviana.



John devoted 29 years of his life to serving as a Chicago police officer. His career reflected his strong sense of duty, his steady character, and his commitment to protecting others.



Beyond his years in law enforcement, John found great happiness in the simple and meaningful things in life. He loved living in Missouri, where he enjoyed the peace and beauty of country life. He had a deep passion for cattle farming and took great pride in caring for the land and animals he loved. From an early age, he was known to be a lover of animals, and that affection remained with him throughout his life. In his later years, he especially adored his cats, who brought him comfort and companionship.



John will be remembered as a loving man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to his family and friends. He valued hard work, loyalty, and the bonds of family, and he lived his life with sincerity and heart.



Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 24, 2026 at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 1214 Hamilton Street, Lockport. Visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mass 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
