Info on training officers undego

I am working on a story for tonight’s news (if possible) where I need a retired CPD officer who might have been an instructor at the Academy and could talk to me about the training that officers undergo.
In particular it would be in regards to how they are trained to respond in cases where a suspect is believed to have a gun, and what the protocol us for using their weapon and why it is that way.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. If someone might night be available for an interview later this afternoon, but could do it Monday that would be good to know as well.
