Subject: Participant Update: Underwood v. City of Chicago, et al., Case No. 13 CH 17450-filing of Motion for Preliminary Injunction
Retiree Update:
Attached is our Emergency Motion for a Preliminary Injunction to stop the City from imposing the new 2016 rates, as well as to put off the October 20 selection date, and imposing the “insurability” requirement on anyone who drops coverage now, from re-entering.
Many of you, more than 100 and still coming in, helped us greatly by your submissions. See Exhibit 9 for a listing of most all statements submitted through yesterday. Your actual individual submissions are being sent to the court under seal—every single one of them! To you 100+ brave souls, You Rock! And your statements help make our case.
For those who haven’t submitted a form statement, there’s still time; especially if your situation is dire: such as, where the 2016 healthcare premium is greater than 20% of your annuity, or if you have health problems, or ……whatever your situation is.
Hope you’re happy with this motion. We should be back in front of Judge Cohen next week, seeking a decision on the injunction before October 20. As always, contributions to the war chest are appreciated.
Also, for those of you in the Municipal and Laborers Funds, please let us know if you’ve received a check or deposit for the Automatic Annual Increases to date.
