Hi

Hope this note finds you well and enjoying the busy holiday season.

I got your contact information from the Retired Chicago Police Association web site and was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I'm a Chicago Tribune reporter who is writing a book about an unsolved double murder on a lovers lane in 1948 in Oregon, Ill. Part of what I'm attempting to do in the book is provide my best theory on what happened and who might be responsible for the murders. I thought it would be great to share what I've found and chat with a retired Chicago Police homicide detective. Would you happen to know one -- preferably a woman because the primary focus of the book is the woman victim -- who might be interested in speaking with me?

By way of background, I've been a reporter at the Tribune for 24 years, shared a Pulitzer Prize with five other Tribune reporters in 2008 and have written two well-regarded books, which I've linked below.

If you could get back to me at your earliest convenience, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks very much.
