About the Job:
House Mom (House Director) for a Sorority located at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois (located about 65 miles west of Chicago IL and 43 miles south of Rockford IL). The Sorority House has 40 live in residents and approximately 40 nonresident members. This is a full-time, live-in position in the Sorority House. The House Director’s resides in a private furnished apartment on the main floor which includes a living room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and a kitchenette. Internet & WIFI, cable TV, Utilities, landline telephone, Cell Phone allowance, 9 weeks of paid vacation, Laundry facilities, fire and security system and meals prepared by a Chef when the members are in residence are included with salary.

Job Purpose:
Managing and mentoring a group of women that allows each woman to experience a productive sorority and college life both academically and personally. Manage a well-organized, safe, and secure, smoothly operating sorority house that is smoke, alcohol, drugs, animal, and firearms-free environment. (Includes all tobacco products and marijuana)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A HOUSE DIRECTOR:
• Serves as the chapter hostess and promotes gracious living standards, ensuring the chapter house remains a clean, orderly, and safe environment, as well as enforcing house rules and regulations as mandated by the collegiate chapter, national organization, and university.
• Encourages proper communication and respect among members.
• Creates and fosters a comfortable atmosphere within the chapter house.
• Communicates any unusual trends and/or problems within the chapter to the Housing Corporation.
• Communicates regularly with chapter president, house manager, housekeeper, chef, and Housing Corporation.
• Lives on site throughout the term of employment, specifically, but not limited to, sleeping nightly at the house and serving as on-site contact for contractors and vendors while maintaining a professional working relationship with all parties, including, but not limited to, members, volunteers, and guests.
• Assists in the budgeting and planning, including the recommendation of areas needing capital improvements, household repairs, and replacements.
• Coordinates day-to-day facility management, small repairs, and maintenance, reporting issues in a timely manner and supervising house repairs and improvements, including those undertaken when school is not in session.
• Supervises kitchen, cleaning, and maintenance staff, with Housing Corporation oversight and approval.
• Supports the chef/cook with meal planning, purchasing and food budgeting, ensuring that appropriate meals are prepared/provided for members.
• Purchase necessary supplies when directed by Housing Corporation
• Manages multiple service providers.
• Maintains and is responsible for a petty cash fund for small expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrate the ability to perform the duties set forth above.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills with a positive solution-focused attitude
• Ability to perform basic functions in Word, Excel, Facebook, texting and be able to scan and email documents
• A positive solution-focused attitude and the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with students, parents, alumnae, service providers, and community resources.
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Strong interpersonal skills; enjoy working with college age women; have patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
• Ability to communicate through email, scan, and email documents to ΣΣΣ BUILDING CORPORATION on a regular basis.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidential information.
• Professional and diplomatic interactions with students, parents, alumnae, service providers and community resources.
• Ability to climb up and down several flights of stairs.
• Previous House Director and /or Property Management experience is a plus.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license and own transportation
• Pass a background check
