John DeVries, age 83, passed away in hospice care at home on May 8. He was born to Joseph and Gertrude (Tazelaar) DeVries in Chicago on November 9, 1938. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maureen "Vicki" (Gedmin) DeVries, daughter Christine DeVries St. John (Douglas), grandsons Jeremy & Tony St. John, sisters Karen and Ellyce DeVries Wolfe and brother Warren (Susan). Son Bradley passed away on January 22 of this year (wife Chompunuch "Nuch") and will be there to welcome his Dad into God's Kingdom. His career included 21 years as a Clarendon Hills policeman (Sgt), Army veteran, truck driver and lastly as a Village of Hinsdale employee. He was a hard worker and loved to sing, including the church choir, tenor in the For Hymn quartet and member of the Hinsdale Jolly Boys (JBs). John's ashes will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on June 2nd and a memorial service will take place at the Burr Ridge Community Church on June 4th. In lieu of flowers, donations to Burr Ridge Church (members 50+ years) are welcome.
