Raymond Robert Jazdzyk (Jazdyk) passed away on May 14, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Covid that began in January. He was born on January 23, 1934 the fourth and youngest child of William and Adeline (Krol) Jazdzyk in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Trinity High School in 1952 he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, he met the love of his life, Arlene Glapa and they were married on January 21, 1956. He joined the Chicago Police Department in 1958 and was with the First District throughout his 31-year career. Oh the stories he could tell. He was most proud of the fact that he was retired for more years than he had worked. He also had a part-time job working security for the Chicago Park District at Solider Field. I guess that is why he continued to follow the Chicago Bears and loved football. After his retirement he continued his love of fishing, golfing, gardening, and trips to Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Roman and Irene Glapa, his brothers, Bill and Gene and sister Irene, and his sons, Peter Jazdyk and CDR David Jazdyk, USN (Ret). Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Arlene Jazdyk, his daughter Susan McKay and son LTC Michael Jazdyk, USA (Ret) and daughter-in-law Michiyo Jazdyk. As well as sisters-in-law Barbara Glapa and Rosemary Monfils and husband Arlen and brother-in-law Raymond Glapa and wife Kathlene. His grandchildren Zach, Jessica, Steven, Keana and Teana and great-grand children Jasmine, Colt and Kenny. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with the funeral service to begin at 3:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Deacon Vince Eklund officiating. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and interred at the Houston National Cemetery where his son David was laid to rest last November.

AND...

Billy Coyne, son of retired Officer “Iron Mike” Coyne.

We are having a celebration of life gathering for my Billy on Saturday, May 21st from 11:30-3:00pm at The Fairway, 6676 W. Howard St in Niles (Tam Golf Course). It’s located inside the Howard Leisure Center. We decided the best way to honor Billy would be to get together with friends and family and share all the great memories. He was definitely one of a kind so I’m sure there will be some great stories and a ton of laughs.

Original obituary:
