John Barham, age 78, of Tinley Park. He will be greatly missed by his loving daughter, Bridget; brothers Michael (Nancy) Barham and Fred (Maureen) Barham; sisters-in-law Anita Butler and Maureen Fleming. He will be fondly remembered by his five nieces, including his goddaughter Erin (John) Day and Cathaleen (Dan) Novak; 13 great nieces and nephews with a very special and close bond with Mia, Natalie and Tommy Day; and many dear, close friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Janet (nee Butler); his mother Lanore (nee Slattery) and nephew Matt Barham. After graduating from South Shore High School, John proudly served four years in the Air Force as a staff sergeant. He drove for Sinclair Gas for 10 years making him the go-to guy to call for directions anywhere in the city and suburbs. He was a volunteer fireman/fire chief in Riverdale and superintendent of Riverdale Public Works for 32 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed driving the sports team bus for St. Laurence High School. John never met a stranger he didn't know. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and Northwestern football fan – hosting some of the best (self-proclaimed) tailgates for 20+ years. But he may be best known for his love of St. Patrick's Day – his, Janet and Bridget's annual parties are legendary and brought together family and friends from near and far.
