John F. Barrett, 92, of Edison Park. CFD, retired Captain., U S Army veteran with rank of Sgt. Beloved husband for 67 years to Mary C. Barrett, nee Smith. Loving father of Michael , CFD, retired BC, (Joy) Barrett, Eileen (the late Guy) Hellstrom, Kathleen ( John, CFD) Donohoe, Mary (Edward) Dowd, and Patricia (Daniel) Burke. Proud grandfather of Julie, Maureen, Daniel (CFD), Brian, Bridget, Lauren, Matthew, Sarah, Christine, Mary Clare, Kevin, Katherine, Jack and Michael. Great grandfather of Nora, Owen, Aila and Liam. Fond brother of the late Mary Daly; brother in law of Eileen Smith and the late Peter Smith. John is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many cherished friends. Visitation will take place Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the M J Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago from 2 – 6 pm. Funeral Monday, family and friends meeting at Immaculate Conception Church, 7211 N. Talcott Ave., Chicago (at Harlem) at 10: 45 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Gerald "Jerry" Holub, 74, of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away on January 17, 2023. Jerry was born in Chicago to Ladd and Addie Holub and the family moved to Des Plaines, Illinois in the 1950's. After Jerry graduated from Maine West High School in 1965, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a Corpsman with the Marines Corps in Vietnam. Jerry went on to earn two Purple Hearts for his service. After over 30 years as a Community Service Supervisor, Jerry retired from the Park Ridge Police Department and spent his time pursing his passion for collecting antique advertising. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, sister Judith Sleep and brother Garry Holub. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kim Mercer Holub, and his daughter Trisha (John) Christian. Services are private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Professional Counseling Division (South side) office at 900 E. 103rd Street, Chicago, IL., 60628, is non[1]operational due to circumstances beyond our control. Therefore, all counseling services at this location are at the Professional Counseling Division/EAP main office, 1759 W. Adams Street, Chicago, IL., 60612. The PCD unit of the Chicago Police Department is staffed by sworn and civilian counselors and provides services to active and retired Department members and their families seeking counseling. To request counseling services, the PCD may be contacted Monday through Thursday between 0830 to 1900 hours and Friday between 0830 to 1700 hours via telephone at 312- 743-0378 or PAX 0578. An answering service will handle all requests outside of our operating hours. In addition, a mental health clinician, alcohol[1]use or substance-use counselor, or peer support member is notified immediately via telephone if the member requests immediate contact during a crisis or emergency.
