SALUTE!

Bureau of Detectives Special Investigations Unit Salutes 008th District Officers P.O. Espinoza #8335 P.O. Wilson #4799 Sgt. Kapior #1372

On 06 Feb 2023, the above officer’s responded to a Criminal Sexual Assault call. Officers found that there was a 12 year old female that had been sexually assaulted by an offender that was still on scene. The Officers placed the offender into custody and processed accordingly. It was learned that the minor had met the adult offender online. The offender subsequently made admissions to sexually assaulting the minor child on numerous occasions and was charged with Predatory Criminal Assault of a child. The above officer’s deduction has helped take a child predator off the streets of Chicago. Thanks for a job well done!

Bank the Blue is a non-profit organization that focuses on Mental Health and Wellness for Law Enforcement Officers. (Please see Banktheblue.com)

I have volunteered to coordinate their Ambassador Training.

Ambassadors must be retired officers.

Ambassadors will be trained to represent Bank the Blue and the programs that they sponsor such as a 24-7 crisis line specifically for Law Enforcement Officers.

Ambassadors will help end the stigma of mental health and provide officers with resources sponsored by Bank the Blue.

There will be an ambassador training on March 1 at 1000 hours at 1011 Touhy in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Ambassador Program Training will consist of:

Training which will familiarize participants with the Bank the Blue Mission.

Training which will provide participants with the confidence to engage in public speaking.

Training which will teach the participants to be active listeners.

Training which will provide the participants with the basic knowledge of recognizing common Psychological Disorders which may affect officers.

Training which will teach participants to be a conscientious confidential resource for officers. Lastly training will talk about the importance of self-care.

If anyone is interested in the training to become an Ambassador, please contact me at Patty@BanktheBlue.org

Respectfully,

Patty Casey

By now, eligible members (active & retired) should have received their F.O.P. election ballot. Hopefully, you have already voted and dropped them in the mail box for their return.

If you are a member and did not receive a ballot, please call the Lodge at 312-733-7776 for a ballot, so you can return it as quickly as possible.

Ballots, in order to be counted, must be received at the Post Office Box prior to pick up by the Election Committee on March 3, 2023. Ballots will be taken from the post office on the morning of March 3, 2023 and taken to the Lodge Hall where they will be tabulated.

In the event an eligible voter does not receive a ballot, or fails to mail the ballot with sufficient time to be delivered, the voter may cast a ballot in person during the period from 0900 hrs. to 1200 hrs. on March 3, 2022 at the Lodge Hall at 1412 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago. Such a vote will be cast subject to challenge.

Thanks for participating in the 2023 F.O.P. Election.

Al Jaglowski
