Judith Goblet.jpg

We are saddened to announce the death of Judith “Judi” Goblet, nee Meskauskas, who passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 in Ann Arbor, Michigan at age 78. Judi grew up in Chicago’s West Pullman and Archer Heights neighborhoods. She graduated from Maria High School and Fox Business College. In recent years, she divided her time living in Port St. Lucie, Florida and South Haven, Michigan. An independent woman of many talents, Judi was a force of nature – creative, generous, exuberant and sensitive. She loved exploring, crafting and road trips, and embraced learning new things along the way. In 1980, she started her own business, Spiffany’s Stained Glass Studio, in Chicago, where she taught lessons and designed and built custom stained-glass art. With sparkle and humor, she was always interested in others, giving of her time and energy. In her Florida community, Judi volunteered to co-manage the lending library. Over the past 2 years, she acquired new shelving to expand the library’s selections and implemented a new color-coded system of organization to help borrowers find and re-shelve books. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Roger) Espinosa and Joseph C.F.D.(Mary Pat) Goblet, her sister Ann Meskauskas, 4 grandchildren, Zoe and Isabel Espinosa and Andrew and Abigail Goblet, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily Meskauskas, brothers John Jr. and David Meskauskas and her former husband Bernard Goblet. A memorial Visitation to honor and celebrate Judi is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave.(55th street just west of Harlem) from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM. A Service of Celebration of Judi and her contributions to this world will be held at 11:30 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to St. Casimir Cemetery where Judi will be laid to rest with her parents and infant brother. Northside Retiree Breakfast!

Hello everybody! I hope that your start of summer has been a glorious one. Be careful with all of the smoke that we're having from the Canadian fires, stay safe and indoors if you can, keep outdoor activities simple and short. Stay safe I hope to see all of you at many more breakfasts.

Which brings me to the message that with the 4th of July weekend, there will be NO Northside Retiree Breakfast on the 3rd.

I also said that I hoped to have some news about the breakfast. We are planning to move to D'Agostino's Pizza, 7530 W Oakton (Oakton and Milwaukee) Niles, IL. They will open early for us at 0900 Hours and we will have the place to ourselves until 1100 Hours. They will be putting together a small breakfast menu, eggs, pancakes, etc., with a price in the $12.50 to $15.00 range, this includes taxes and tip. I have not firmed this part up and should know the exact terms in the next few weeks.

Again, Ken Hauser and I wish you all a safe and happy 4th of July weekend. Enjoy your picnics and fireworks.

Fraternally,

Steve Marchfield
