The Honorable Richard M Stock, 71, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois passed away peacefully July 2, 2023, after a courageous 14-year battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). Beloved husband of 42 Years to Marge (nee O’Brien); and proud father of Ellen (Tyler Reader), Matthew and loving grandfather of Zoey Lynn Reader; dear sibling of Suzanne Stock and the late James (Krystal Stock), son of the late Johannah and Richard, dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and loyal friend to many others. He attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School, University of Illinois where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and Loyola Law School. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Clarendon Hills Lions Club. Rick was known for his exemplary character and expertise in the law. He had a distinguished 33 years in the legal profession. After passing the bar, he worked at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office from 1977- 1988 then became head of Felony Review from 1988-1995. He served in the State of Illinois Attorney General’s office as Chief Deputy from 1995-1998 and Chief of Staff from 1998-2003. He was a partner at the law firm of Drinker Biddle from 2003-2007. In October 2007, Rick was appointed to the 18th Judicial Circuit Court. During his Judicial career he served in the Domestic Relations and Law Divisions. He retired from the bench in 2010. Rick was an avid bike rider, skier, golfer, fisherman and adventurous visitor to more than 22 National Parks and 19 countries. He was a proud winner of numerous BBQ rib contests, a fierce bocce ball player, and a dedicated Illini and White Sox fan. The world was a better place with Rick Stock in it. Rick made friends easily as he drew people to him with his true charisma, warmth, humor, and great passion for life. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick’s memory may be made to the National Parks Foundation or Misericordia Heart of Mercy. Mass of Christian Burial will be July 7th, 10:30 am, at Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Ave. Clarendon Hills, IL. The family will receive friends July 6th from 3-8pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th Street, Downers Grove, IL 60516. Funeral information: 630-964-6500 Richard M.
