Daniel Callahan, 74, of Plainfield for over 16 years formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1948, in Chicago IL, to Toni Mizia and Francis A. Callahan. Devoted husband of Linda Haymes who he married on January 15, 1972, at St. Symphorosa Church. Dear father of Daniel E. (Keith Uhlich) Callahan and Tracy (Adam) Khan. Loving grandfather of Lena and Aiden. Daniel also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members. Daniel grew up in Chicago IL on the southwest side and attended St. Laurence High School class of 1966. He joined the Fire Department in 1969 and eventually was promoted to the rank of Chief of District 15. He was a member of Chicago fire fighters local 2 Union for over forty years and received awards for his heroic actions. He retired in 2007 and moved to Plainfield in the Lakelands community where his neighbors quickly became precious friends. Daniel had a special gift in his ability to befriend others in minutes with his humor, grace and kindness. Daniel had a love of nature, was active in many sports and up for any adventure. He gave the most amazing life to family pets Sunshine, Muppet, Tess, Retro and Qunnie. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday July 10, 2023, from 2 PM to 6:30 PM with a service at 6:30 PM at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 44 S. James C. Kingsley, Ret. C.P.D., Age 76, passed away July 5th. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Ahern). Dear father of Sean and Ian Kingsley. Loving brother-in-law of Maureen Ahern (Thomas Szulc), and Peggy Ahern. Cherished uncle of Lisa (Nick) Gedraitis and great uncle of Mae. Survived by many dear friends and relatives. Kevin P. O'Malley, age 90, Retired C.F.D. (Engine 77) Korean Army Veteran, cherished son of the late Patrick and Norah O'Malley. John Rae, age 92 of Palatine IL., passed away on July 2nd, 2023. He was born September 10, 1930. John was a beloved member of the Chicago Fire Department family for 37 years, retiring with the rank of captain in 1993. John was preceded in death by his late wife Helen (nee Balog) whom he cherished dearly. John is survived by his beloved daughters Meg ( Dennis) Tertell and Lori Gray. He was also an adored grandfather to Kaelyn Gray. John is also survived by his brother Richard, and was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Violet, and his siblings Beverly Axen, Robert, Donald, and Kenneth. John Rae will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. ( No known services are posted)
