Philip S. Piszek, 83, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2023. Beloved husband to Margaret for 57 years; cherished father to Philip (Lu), Christine (Brian Dougherty, both of whom are CPD); adoring grandfather to Brian; fond uncle to many; caring brother Pamela (the late James) Hodur; dearest brother-in-law of Joseph (Arlene) Zarembski. Philip is preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Roslyn. He was a proud graduate of U of I, and during his career Philip loved being a counselor at Kelvyn Park High School where he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. When school was out for the summer he could be found on the tennis court, attending a Chicago Cubs game, or working in his garden. Philip is remembered as an avid animal lover. Visitation, Thursday, July 20, 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., funeral prayers, Friday, 9:15 a.m. to Immaculate Conception Church for the Mass of The Christian Burial, 10 a.m., interment to follow at Maryhill cemetery, Niles. Volunteers Needed for CPD vs CFD @ Guaranteed Rate Field August 2nd!

Hello! Summer Event Season is here and we are recruiting volunteers for several events. Please reply to this email if you are interested in helping us out on Wednesday August 2nd for the CPD vs CFD Baseball game at Guaranteed Rate Field! We'd love to have you work with friends in pairs, so if you can bring a friend with you, let me know! We could not do what we do without your help. So far we have given out over $18.9 million in assistance to Chicago Police families in need. Thank you for making this possible!

CPD vs. CFD Charity Baseball Game / Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023.

Location: Guaranteed Rate Field, 333 W. 35th Street, Chicago.

On-site parking is available in Lot B.

Volunteers needed 4pm – 7pm: Ticket Check-in.

Volunteers Needed 5pm – 10pm: Merchandise Sales, Split the Pot.

SPECIAL EVENT!

The CPD Chaplains will be hosting a screening of ‘Sabbath’, a documentary by award winning filmmaker Martin Doblmeier, focusing on rest. This special screening is for active and retired CPD members and will be held on Tuesday, 12 Sep 2023 from 1230-1600 hours at Park Community Church, 1001 N. Crosby St, Chicago IL. There will also be discussion after the documentary.
