Patrick F. Glinski,.png

Patrick “Luf” Glinski, 56, passed far too early from this world on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Born and raised in Hegewisch, he was the son of Frank Glinski Jr. and the late Patricia (Moone) Glinski. A devoted and loving husband and father, he will be dearly missed and remembered each day by his wife Tina (Whitaker) Glinski and three beloved children Nicole Whitaker, Patrick Glinski, and Tiffany Glinski. Patrick graduated from Washington High School in 1985 and began his lifetime of selfless service in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany through the height of the Cold War. After his military service, he followed in the steel working footsteps of his grandfather Frank Glinski Sr. and uncle Bobby Glinski. He quickly developed a legendary reputation at Acme Steel’s #3 Hot Mill for doing the work of several men, a reputation that stands to this day. Following his time at Acme, Patrick joined the Chicago Police Department in 1991. He was proud to carry on yet another family tradition of service shared by his grandfather Detective George Moone, all three of his brothers, and several uncles and cousins, serving 32 years on the job before retiring in 2022. He touched countless lives during his distinguished police career and cemented his exceptional reputation among his fellow officers and the Chicagoans he served and protected. Throughout his life, Patrick was known by all as an epic storyteller who lit up any room he entered and always left laughter in his wake. He was a friend to all, and always the first to help anyone in need – never once asking anything in return. His work ethic and integrity were admired and emulated by everyone lucky enough to share in his life’s journey. The world was a better place because of Patrick Glinski, and he leaves behind a void that will be impossible to fill. A loving brother who always put family first, he is also survived by his brothers Sean Glinski, Kevin (Kelly) Glinski, and Tim (Sharon) Glinski, and sister Kathleen (Kevin) Gaudette. He will always be adored and missed by his nieces and nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His legacy lives on in their hearts and in all of those who knew him. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 2pm until 9pm at Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave, Chicago 60617. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patrick’s honor to Saint Jude Police League or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
