Terrence “Terry” Neil Moore, 69, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away on August 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Terry was born on January 15, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, where he grew up in a large Irish-Catholic family. He graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1972. After graduation, Terry worked as a printing press operator in the Chicago area. He then joined his father-in-law in a family construction and remodeling business that served the Chicagoland area. In the mid-1990s, Terry joined the Cook County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff in the Court Services Department and retired as a Sergeant in 2019. Terry met Jean (Weger) Moore during their freshman year at Steinmetz High School. After a number of years of fun and friendship, they fell in love and married on November 24, 1979 in Chicago and enjoyed almost 44 wonderful years together. Together, they raised their son Brian and daughter Jenna in Chicago and Elk Grove Village, Illinois where Terry volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as a leader in the Holy Name Society. An avid Chicago Bears fan, Terry enjoyed watching games with friends and family at garage parties and tailgating events. As the only White Sox fan in a family of Cubs fans, he put up with a lot of good-natured teasing. Jean and Terry loved to travel and enjoyed recent trips to Alaska and Florida. Terry especially loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren, Allison and Jaxson, who filled his days with joy. Terry is survived by his loving wife Jean of Huntley, Illinois; son Brian (Kate) Moore of Sugar Grove, Illinois; daughter Jenna (Dakota) Losik and grandchildren Allison and Jaxson of Woodstock, Illinois; sister Maureen Bothwell; and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Lorretta (Lynch) Moore; father John Moore; siblings Margaret; Patricia; John (“Mike”); and Thomas. A visitation will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S. Roselle Rd., Roselle, Illinois. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at St. Matthew Church, 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg, Illinois.
