Dear Fellow CPD AZ Retiree,

Unfortunately, our monthly luncheon was cancelled at the last minute because Casino Arizona closed the Eagle Buffet on Wednesday. I was not given any notice other than the day before. I have been in contact with the casino food manager, Laura, and she apologized for the late notice. She indicated that Casino Arizona wanted to cut down on food costs and labor costs, so they shut it down on Wednesday. This makes no sense to me, when you have a captive audience there and it is a Wednesday. The buffet is now open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Higher prices prevail on late Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. She also indicated that she could accommodate us on either a Thursday or Friday at the same price we are paying now.

In the last few days, I have had comments from some of our members about changing the venue. Brian Kratz was in contact with an Italian Restaurant Pizza place at Via De Ventura and Pima. The owner said he could give us a corner with a days’ notice. It is something to consider. Others in the west and N/W valley want something out West. Still no suggestions.

It is very difficult to please everyone. For the last 23 years I know, this luncheon has been in the Scottsdale area. If people want to change this and have something west and east let me know. In the meantime, if people wish to continue at Casino Arizona on Thursday or Friday, please get back to me on the preferred day. Do you wish to continue Thursday or Friday? LET ME KNOW.
