Information Regarding CPD AZ Retiree Luncheon!
Dear Fellow CPD AZ Retirees,
As all of you know, our last luncheon was canceled at the last minute because Casino Arizona decided to close the Eagle Buffet on Wednesday. As a result of that I put questions out to the entire group asking for input and what they wanted to do. We do not have any alternate venue. The few of our group that responded most indicated they wanted to continue the luncheon at the same place on the third Thursday of the month.
As a result of that, I have planned to continue our group on the third Thursday of each month. Our upcoming monthly luncheon this month is on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the EAGLE BUFFET IN CASINO ARIZONA, 524 N. 92nd St, Scottsdale, AZ 85256, right off the 101 & 202 at McKellips. The buffet does not open until 11:00 AM. We will check-in at 11:00 AM. Stay in the right line, and please identify yourself that you are with the CPD AZ Retiree Luncheon group. When you pay, the cost of the luncheon is now $25.00, which includes all you can eat, beverage, dessert, tax, and tip. Laura Peterson, the food service manager, is our contact person. She is doing a wonderful job to accommodate our group. They will try to get us through the line and get us seated quickly. We will be in the rear room if it is available. We will be trying to do the luncheons on THE THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH. For further information please contact me, Brian DuFour, at 623-521-6146 or bdu4@aol.com.
Because of a long-term commitment, I have a conflict on Thursday and may or may not be able to attend the luncheon. I live in the N/W valley, and it is about a 47 mile trip for me to get to the present location. Some West Valley members of our group indicated we could meet on another day someplace in the West or Northwest Valley to accommodate those living out west. That is a great suggestion, and I would welcome any ideas as to where we could meet. Please let me know.
Sincerely,
Brian DuFour, USN (Ret.)

MEETING NOTICE!
The Hellenic American Police Association (HAPA) is a not-for[1]profit police ethnic association, recognized by the CPD as a police ethnic association. The HAPA was founded by Elias Voulgaris (Chicago PD) to represent law enforcement officers of Hellenic heritage, including Greek Cypriots. The goal of the HAPA is to gather all who are of Hellenic heritage in order to maintain our proud careers, rich and proud heritage, culture, traditions, and Greek Cypriot upbringing, as well as our Greek Orthodox faith, while celebrating each other’s fellowship. We are one of four such associations; the others being the St. Paul’s Society of the NYPD, the Metropolitan Police Service Greek & Cypriot Association (MPS GCA) of London’s Metropolitan Police Service, and the Hellenic Police Association of the Victoria, Australia Police with whom we maintain brotherly ties. All law enforcement officers, active or retired from any law enforcement agency or department are invited and welcome to join the Hellenic American Police Association. General Membership Meetings are held the last Tuesday of every month at 1930 hrs. at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2701 N. Sheffield Ave. For further information, contact Cmndr. Elias Voulgaris (Retired) at (312) 480-8612 or voulgariselias@gmail. com. In addition, our Chaplain, Fr. Chrysanthos “Chris” Kerkeres of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church is also a volunteer CPD Chaplain ministering to the spiritual needs of members who are of Greek or Eastern Orthodox faith. He can be reached at 708-243-4559.
