Thomas William Delanty, 75, of Urbana. He left this life on Sunday, November 26 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Chicago on September 13, 1948, of Thomas William Delanty Sr. and Pearl Margaret White. He married Nancy Lee Weeks on January 22, 1972, in Chicago. Tom graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.A. and MBA. In 1971 he began working for the University of Illinois and retired from there in 2008 as a well-respected Director of Purchases. From 2008 until 2014, he worked in Singapore as Business Manager for a U of I/Singapore joint venture. Tom was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Urbana Knights of Columbus. He was co-president of his HOA, on the board of the East Gate Detention Basin District, and an officer in the Illini Investment Club. Tom was the unofficial Papa Beer of the Champaign-Urbana Beer Club. He enjoyed investing, travel, craft beer, attending his grandchildren’s activities, and shopping for bargains. His and Nancy’s travels took them to almost all the U.S. states as well as Scandinavia, mainland Europe (of course Ireland), Australia, the Caribbean, Morrocco, and many countries in Southeast Asia. Great times were spent with the “Happy Hour” group of friends that he knew and loved for over 40 years. They became his Champaign/Urbana family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, a brother, John, retired CPD Detective (Vivian) Delanty of Chicago, and his three children, Terrence Delanty of Boone, North Carolina, Emily (Luis) Aguilar, and Jeremy (Miranda) Delanty both of Urbana. He was loving Grandpa to Gabriela Aguilar, Alexander Aguilar, Alana Aguilar, Lyla Delanty, and Lincoln Delanty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nature Conservancy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or an organization of the donor’s choice. The family will welcome his friends at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St. Urbana IL, with a Funeral Mass held at 9:30 am, Friday, December 1. A visitation will be held after the mass in the parish hall. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Champaign at a later date.

Edwin Espinoza, age 35, Police Officer of the Chicago Police Department passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. A visitation for Edwin will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. On November 27, 2023, Pedro C. Sandoval, Jr., also known as “Pete” to family and many friends, passed away. Pedro was the loving husband of Jessie (Vega)Sandoval, who preceded him and was awaiting him with open arms. Jessie and Pedro were happily married for 71 beautiful years. Pedro was the loving and dedicated father of Mary Sandoval, Martha Garcia, David (Alicia) Sandoval, Peter (Martha) Sandoval, Louise (retired Chicago Police Department) (William Jr., retired Chicago Police Department) Galvan, Ray Sandoval and Frances Sanchez. Pedro was the cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren. He was treasured by his 26 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Pedro was preceded in passing by his father, Pedro Sandoval, Sr., and by his mother, Lucia (Centeno)Sandoval and 12 siblings. Pedro was born in Texas, and raised in Celaya, Guanajuato. He eventually made his home in Chicago, where he met and married the love of his life, Jessie. Pedro and Jessie raised a family of seven children in the south Chicago area of the city. Pedro was a proud union worker for USS Steelworks for 44 years. Pedro and Jessie later moved to Burnham, Illinois, where they both enjoyed their well-deserved retirement years. They both devoted themselves to family and always welcome family into their home. Pedro was truly loved, cherished and respected by his family and friends. He will forever be loved and remembered. Heaven has welcomed a truly special man. Visitation Monday, December 4, 2023, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S.
