Jeffrey Estabrooke.jpg

Jeffrey Estabrooke, age 76, of Northfield. Beloved husband of Kathleen Estabrooke nee Sundblad. Loving father of Clay (Lindsay Van Pelt) Estabrooke and Bailey (Danny) Kostas. Adoring Pops of Brynn and Owen Estabrooke. Dear brother of Lynette Estabrooke and Mark (Pamela) Estabrooke. Son of the late William Estabrooke and the late Terry Preetorius and stepson of Marilyn Kosmensky. Loving uncle and great uncle, as well. Jeff was born and raised in Evanston, IL. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force. He began his career as an MP and went on to become a military dog handler - a component of the military dog drill team. He was later promoted to instructor of the handlers and dogs at the Air Force Dog School in Lackland, TX. He proudly served three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his 4 years of service, he was tapped to join the initial Narcotic Dog Program for US Customs. After leaving US Customs he became an Evanston Police Officer and retired in 1997 after 26 years. He moved on to become the Floor Manager for Place Brokerage at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for many years. In retirement, he provided support for the Founder and Emeritus Chairman of Alberto Culver. A sports enthusiast, his morning routine was spent digesting the entire sports section of the newspaper and was always up for a detailed conversation about such. His favorite pastime was enjoying Clay and Bailey’s accomplishments in this area. Cheering at baseball/hockey games for Clay and softball/lacrosse games for Bailey. However, his biggest triumphs were being the loving husband and very best friend of Kathy for 50 years, raising two beautifully accomplished children, and a super proud Pops to his grandchildren. He was a friend to many, who he dearly loved and respected and would do anything for. A celebration of life is planned for July. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306, or Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
