Glade Joseph Matthews, retired CPD, United States Army Vietnam Veteran passed away on Sunday, January 21st, 2024. Glade was born on April 30, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to his parents the late Euphamie and Paul Matthews. Loving husband of Nancy (nee Neumann). Beloved father of Jean (Oscar, Retired FBI) Alvarez and Paul, CPD (Carrie, CPD) Matthews. Dear Papa to Melina, Matias, Makai Alvarez and Conor and Maddi Matthews. Beloved brother to the late Paula (Morton) Anderson, Nancy (Eric) Zimmer and the late John (Marguerite) Matthews and brother-in-law of Margaret (John) Todd. Fond Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend to many. Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Glade being held on Friday, January 26th, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60638. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, when family and friends can gather at Ridge Funeral Home at 10:00 AM; chapel prayers will begin at 11:00 AM. Following in procession to St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 5300 South Natoma Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60638 for an 11:30 AM mass. A burial will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery & Mausoleum, 16201 104th Avenue, Orland Park, Illinois 60467. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Glade's name to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project. Please see links below.
