Nicholas J. Golich, October 20, 1956 — February 9, 2024.

Nicholas J. Golich, age 67 of New Lenox passed away Friday, February 09, 2024, at UI Health, Chicago, IL. Nick was born in Chicago to Nicholas and Geraldine (nee Kramer) Golich. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Hayes) Golich; loving father of Nicholas Golich, Emily Golich, and Kaitlyn (Kevin Otte) Golich; cherished son of Geraldine and the late Martin “Marty” Keane (retired CFD) and the late Nicholas Golich; dear brother of Steven (Lorie) Golich, Karen (Kevin retired CPD) Gyrion, Kathleen retired CPD (Ray retired CPD) Chigaros-Miller, and Kristin CPD (John retired CPD) Maples; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Nick was a truck driver and a 35-year member of Teamsters Local #710, retiring in 2023. He was also a former union steward. Nick will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nick’s name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:30pm. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Nicholas J. Charles A. Kerbs, "Charlie" "Chas", age 68, a resident of Naperville since 1989, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 18, 1955, in Chicago. He attended Brother Rice High School and was a graduate of Illinois State University. Following in his father's footsteps, he proudly served in the Chicago Police Department for 8 years before embarking on a 30-year career as Regional Security Manager for Amoco Corporation and BP America. Sometimes known as the corporate "sheriff", Charlie was well known and respected among several thousand Chicagoland employees for being genuine and caring. He served in many operational capacities until he retired in 2018. Charlie and his wife Mary settled in Naperville in 1989 where they happily raised their 3 children. He adored his family. Charlie was an active and dedicated father who loved being involved in programs like Indian Guides & Princesses, Little League, Galaxy Soccer, many NCHS and college sports, and music/theatre productions. He was also a devoted son who took pride in caring for his mother. He loved a good Bears game and stood solidly by the White Sox, come rain or shine. Charlie enjoyed working on his golf game with great friends. He found joy in the simple things of life and always knew how to make people laugh. Charlie had tremendous respect for US Veterans. He was an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer at the Judd Kendall VFW Post. Family, friends, and neighbors alike regarded him as a true, authentic person with a big heart. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Mary (nee Ford); his loving children, Lauren Kerbs, Leanna (fiancé Sam Yeaton) Kerbs and Derek Kerbs; his cherished mother, Romayne Kerbs; his dear sister, Romayne (the late Don) LaRock and siblings-in-law, Michael (Carol) Ford, Larry (Mary) Ford, John Ford and Eileen (Mike) Belmonte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Kerbs, and his parents-in-law, Henry and Agnes Ford. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society of Chicago or the Judd Kendall V.F.W. Post #3873. Visitation will be Friday, February 16, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17, 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville. Interment will follow at Naperville Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed for those who will be unable to attend. In the event of any technical difficulties during the live stream a recording of the Mass will be available later.

Our monthly luncheon this month is on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the EAGLE BUFFET IN CASINO ARIZONA, 524 N. 92nd St, Scottsdale, AZ 85256, right off the 101 & 202 at McKellips. WE HAVE GUEST SPEAKERS. Bill Whelehan invited Jerry Sheridan, former Republican candidate for Maricopa County Sheriff. Jerry will be there. Also, Bob Scarpetti invited several retired police officers from the Guardians Consulting and Training. I believe they will discuss various things including getting your Federal concealed carry as well as concealed carry licenses.

The buffet does not open until 11:00 AM. We will check-in at 11:00 AM. Stay in the right line, and please identify yourself that you are with the CPD AZ Retiree Luncheon group. When you pay, the cost of the luncheon is now $25.00, which includes all you can eat, beverage, dessert, tax and tip. Laura Peterson, the food service manager, is our contact person. She is doing a wonderful job to accommodate our group. They will try to get us through the line and get us seated quickly. We will be in the rear room if it is available.
