Gregory Krywar, 82, of Geneva, Illinois passed away Friday February 16, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born in Knyazhichi, Ukraine, May 10, 1941 to Lawrence and Maria (Tschiniak) Krywaruczenko. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Shannon, June 14, 1980, in Chicago, Illinois. Gregory was a dedicated Chicago Police Officer for over 30 years. He was beloved by many family and friends. He was a man of many talents and could do anything. If you needed anything he would always be there for you. Greg was a very loyal and loving family man. He enjoyed fishing, working with his hands, helping others, solving problems, watching his favorite tv sitcom The Andy Griffith Show, making others laugh, and just being the most wonderful man that he was. He survived by his loving wife Kathleen Krywar his children; Mary (The late Robert) Gould, Gregory Krywaruczenko, grandchildren; Erin (Max) Vazquez, Patrick Carroll, Chloe Gould, Steven Krywaruczenko, Stacey Krywaruczenko, Gianni Pahura, great grandchildren; Lucas Wood and Quinn Wood, several nieces and nephews and loving brother-in-law to many. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Jaclyn Pahura, his son-in-law Robert Gould and several brothers and sisters. A visitation will take place Thursday, February 22. 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510. A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St, Batavia, IL 60510. Interment will take place privately. Stanley E. Martinkus, age 84, beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Motel); loving stepfather of George A. (Mary) Senick; dear step-grandfather of Bernadette (Ryan) Senick-Haas and Rebecca Senick; cherished son of the late Stanley and Anna Martinkus; fond brother of the late Marion (the late Bob) Brooks; kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. Stan was a proud Chicago Police Officer for 32 years and security officer at the Illinois College of Optometry for many years. He enjoyed fishing, golf and walking. John G. "Jack" Ward Jr., retired CPD, died on February 12th surrounded by his loving daughter and her family. Jack is survived by his daughter Erin (Joseph) Rodriguez, grandchildren Katie, Joey, Olivia, and Vinny, and great granddaughter Sofia, along with his 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. SPECIAL EVENT!

The US Marshals Service invites the Chicago Police Department to participate in the 8th annual USMS Fallen Heroes Honor Run on Friday, 08 March 2024 at 0600 hours at the Federal Plaza 230 S. Dearborn. This year, USMS will honor Officer Andres Vasquez Lasso and Officer Areanah Preston during this 4-mile run which will include a mid-run stop at Chicago Police Memorial Park for a Gold Star Presentation to Honor CPD’s Fallen Officers.
