Joseph J. Del Pilar, 59 years old, of Manzanillo, Mexico died February 22, 2024. He was born in Chicago in 1964 to Raymond J. Del Pilar and Theresa A. Del Pilar nee Roccoforte. Joe attended St. Bartholomew Grade School and St. Patrick High School before enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard. After being honorably discharged, Joe joined the Chicago Police Department in 1987 and retired as a sergeant after 28 years of service. During his 28 years Joe was recognized with numerous awards and also achieved both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal social justice from Lewis University. Joe is survived by his sister, Julie Del Pilar, brother, David Del Pilar (Melissa) and faithful furry companion, Canelo. He was uncle to Mary and Nicholas Lindahl, Jude and Michael. He formed a special bond with cousin, Kathy Rizzo nee Billings and friend Anna. He loved his beautiful Boxers, Manny and Packi, who preceded him in death. Those who knew him will remember him as a generous and loyal friend who loved to travel. Memorial Visitation Thursday, February 29th, 3PM to 8PM, Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero Chicago, IL. William J. Eaheart, Sr. Calling someone ‘Good People’ was sincerely the highest compliment Bill could give. It is with deep sadness we share news of the peaceful passing of William J. Eaheart, Sr., the best of Good People. Born September 15, 1941, Bill is survived by his sons, Bill (Maggie) and Brian (Carla) and grandchildren, Quinn, Burke, Brennan, Delaney, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jean (nee McNerney) and daughter Rita Jean Gramm. Throughout his robust life, Bill demonstrated the many facets of heroism. As an 8th grade teacher at St. Gall’s grammar school, Bill volunteered countless hours to provide students outdoor experiences, helping the children build self-confidence. As a Chicago firefighter, Bill did not hesitate to put his life on the line, carrying countless people to safety. As a father and gramps, Bill modeled integrity, humility and good humor. In seemingly ordinary ways, Bill was extraordinary. Everyone could rely on Bill to share amusing stories of youthful antics in Canaryville, enlighten anyone who would listen on the best route to drive across town, or readily connect you to talented craftsmen. Whatever was needed, Bill’s ‘gotta guy’. Although, more often than not, Bill was your guy. Deeply grounded in the principle of fairness and profoundly respectful of the women in his life, Bill was quick to lend a hand to the underdog. He knew when to fill a space with a hearty laughter and when to simply be present in comfortable silence. He is greatly missed, but his lesson of a life well lived remains with us. While serving as central to so many of those around him, Bill never wanted to be the center of attention. His joy was seeing others’ successes, especially when it came to his grandchildren. Even in his passing, Bill insisted they maintain continuity of their education. To honor his wishes, services will be delayed, and the family will notify loved ones of a time later to gather and recognize Bill’s wonderful life. Services will be set for a future date to be determined.

Calling all coppers. Please join the newly formed group Windy City Coppers located in the greater Tampa Bay Area. We meet for breakfast every last Wednesday of the month. We encourage any and all current or retired CPD to attend as we attempt to solve all the world’s problems one breakfast at a time. Roll call is 10am at Tiffany’s Family Restaurant located at 35000 US Highway 19 in Palm Harbor, Florida.
