Robert (Bob) Emmett Shanahan, age 74, Retired Patrolman from the Chicago Police Department with 26 years of service. Beloved husband of Joan, loving father of Robert Shanahan, (the late) Michael (Zip) Shanahan, Kristine Lavery and Matthew Shanahan. Loving grandfather of Camryn Shanahan, Ronan and Aurora Lavery and Skyler, Jackson & Austyn Shanahan. Dear brother of Carolyn Wheat, Larry Shanahan and (the late) Mary Kay Lindberg. Bob was known for his caring and loving character. He was very outgoing and personable and would offer to help anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Services will be private. Please make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.

Roy J. Venegas, C.F.D. of Chicago’s Clearing Community passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, March 1, 2024, with his loving family at his side. Roy was a dedicated and proud Chicago Fire Fighter for over 30 years before his retirement 6 years ago. He was last stationed at Battalion 16, Engine 32. He served for seven years in the Army National Guard. Roy was blessed with the love of his family, and was a devoted husband, wonderful father and cherished grandfather and great grandfather and loving son. He was married for 30 years to the love of his life, his loving wife, Sylvia. A loving Father to Alejandro (Dalia) and cherished Grandfather of Jisenda (Andrew) and Abram and Juan and great Grandfather to Liam and Adrienne. Much loved Son of Valentina and the late Rogelio Venegas. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Aurora, Adel, Ray, Angela, Rudy, Norman, Nancy, Anna Marie, and the late Tita “Peaches” and his many nieces and nephews. Roy was a loving and dedicated person, who despite all his medical struggles was always willing to help anyone who was in need. He will be forever remembered for strength, love, loyalty, and compassion for everyone. Visitation is Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Rev. Bill McFarland, Chaplain for the Chicago Fire Department will offer prayers for Roy at 7:30 PM. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:30 AM until time of Prayers at 9:30 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to Two Holy Martyrs Parish, St. Symphorosa Church for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Roy will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.

Hello everyone, we made through February, all four seasons on one month. Now it's March and this Tuesday the 5th is the Northside Retiree Breakfast. It’s at D'Agostino's 7530 W Oakton Ave in Niles, 0900 Hours. The doors open around 0830 and you're welcome to stay longer. The cost is $15 which includes tax and a $2 tip, 3% charge for credit cards.
